I appreciate the sentiment, Iwen. I also agree that---as is the case in RL---the most qualified person for the job doesn't necessarily end up being the right person for the job.

I'm looking forward to others putting forward their speeches regarding the U21 NT...

A mighty fine response! Credit where it is due.

Even though the voting has just opened, I think that your response will have earned you many votes.

Good job Mr Green.

I appreciate that, mate. :-)

I will give out my info tomorrow sometime. But a point I raised about setting up a new federation for both NT and 21 NT is that each user is limited to 5 federations in total they can be a member of. I for example are in 5 atm. How will this sort of thing effect those who would want to join if there are now 2 more they should join up for?

I would have thought the answer to that, Mickyster, was self-evident: Priorities.

You, like others who are members of 5 federations, will have to decide what federation has greater value. How highly do you rate the development of the U21 NT? Given that you are running I would say highly. Therefore, logic would suggests that if I was elected and implemented this system, you would leave one of your 5 federations and join this one. Perhaps I'm wrong.

I don't mean to appear dismissvie, mate, but like you said, we can only be a member of 5 federations...

Yes that is true. I am not just talking about myself but many others are members of different federations. At present we have an off site forum which anyone can join but you need to go to a different link. With the limit of 5 federations there will be some who chose to not be involved with the NT if they need to leave a federation to join 2 new ones.
Of course if the sides used a federation I would join but it would be a difficult thing to leave on of the others I am in that all contribute to my enjoyment and development with this game.
I just think setting up 2 new federations for the Nt and 21 Nt and not only limited non supporters from being involved fully and also limiting those who may choose to stay in other federations is not going to grow the engagement with the NT sides.
That is how I see it. If a special NT federation was set up IMO it would need to be 1 used for both NT sides.

If Whitebeard, Direwolf, mllama, C-Cat or someone of that pedigree was running against Mr Green, ezlife etc then it would be a valid argument that they have achieved more. However that is not the case. We have Brooksy, Mickyster, Mr Green all in division III and ezlife (who is my friend) in the weakest division II conference ever and could only manage 14 wins. None of them have shown what those legends of the game have shown but what they hopefully have is time, effort, enthusiasm, an ability to get others involved, a willingness to take advice and the courage to make the final decisions even if unpopular.

Iwen even though you are the best U21 manager of all time I disagree with your conclusions. The mentoring scheme that was running several seasons ago (under mllama?) was very successful, however not all the mentors did the best work and some seasons you just lack the star power in all positions that you need to make a great team.

This season while I feel that I did a bad job I have still exchanged way more that 100 bbmails with managers of the 19 year old shooting guards and had many lengthy discussions about training directions. Multiply that by five positions and three ages and do you really think anyone can reply to thousands of bbmails in any decent detail? I did a bad job, but it was still much, much more that anyone could expect one person to do for all the positions and all the ages.

Sounds like a great compromise . (Never really got into the offsite forum)

So when does the election start and conclude and for those who dont know or cant remember how does one vote?

Quite impressed with the quality of the 3 candidates who have already put their name forward and fully agree with Iwen.

Having the best strategic mind does not automatically make one the best person to take on the role.

I have a feeling that it might be a close election with such a high quality field.

The election for the last National team coach was decided by one vote and only after someone changed their mind at the last moment.

Are all 3 of you willing to help in a support role should you be unsuccessful at winning the election?

What is it the one thing that each of you can and will do better than the other candidates?

Of the more senior Managers in the game, who do each of you believe that you most resemble in style and mannerisms?

Are any of you actually Latino under another alias?

I agree the mentoring program Mllama had was fantastic.

But the mentors were mainly the old timers, myself, direwolf, c-cat, j-dog and maybe a few others I can't remember.

Those guys had longevity. We all stuck through thick and thin with the national teams for more than 10 seasons!

You forgot me *sniff*. My mentoring thread had by far the most posts in it (not spam actual mentoring). The other thing the old offsite forum had that was fantastic was the team mentoring feature. I don't know if that is the job of the U21 manager but it would be great to get something like that up and running again.

I disagree. The U21 NT is its own entity and much larger than the NT. To keep the federation easy to access I would separate the U21 from the NT.

It has already started. Click 'election' link and it gives the timeframe.

Iwen's a legend. Simple. :-)

I have a feeling that it might be a close election with such a high quality field.

I hope so. More fun.

Definately. In fact, if I am not elected I will continue to build the Federation I have mentioned so that in the future it may be utilised. I haven't done anything with it so far as I haven't been elected so was reluctant to put all the effort in for it to be wasted; however, I will build it regardless. If I build it they will come! Eventually. Maybe.

What is it the one thing that each of you can and will do better than the other candidates?

I don't know Mickyster or Ezilfe well other than what I see of them on the forums. Mickyster has been, imo, extremely active and is always involved in the BB community in some capacity.

What can I do better? Not sure how to answer that. I am a teacher and have held previous managerial positions so I guess I am a leader of sorts and an organiser. Attributes that are clearly suited to the U21 NT.

Of the more senior Managers in the game, who do each of you believe that you most resemble in style and mannerisms?

None come to mind. I have had some great mentors (see those listed in my speech). I am...unique! lol

Are any of you actually Latino under another alias?

I choose not to answer that question on the grounds it might incriminate me. lol
No, definately not Latino.

Sorry, did I just read all I could do in the weakest aussie d2 conference was to win 14 games?!

I won 14 games AND made it to the grand finals with a... wait for it... 300K ROSTER. Shall I also remind you that I trained my kids since they were 19 without demoting?

I'm not gonna write a book about my personnal life. I've been around for a long time and I know what I'm doing. Mentoring and other stuff, all blah blah. I've been there before (SA U21 manager).

I will definitely not get involved if someone else is elected because I believe the only few that understand well the game will not sign up and I'll not babysit a newbie.

EDIT: oh yeah, my 300k roster also barely missed to upset the 500k roster of CC in the final game, at his arena and with less enthousiasm.

You are a great manager, a great person and even a great baller in real life. But your league was pathetic last season lets face it. As you said it you nearly won it with a $300k roster. So why the heck didn't you pick up another player at some stage and actually win?
