it is still early, but from my vantage point this season may turn out to be quite a remarkable season.
the impact of BB's new rules about the salary tax and the older one about transfers' GS i think may combine to reduce the chances of a given team "buying" their way to a championship. it still can be done, but the deadline for such moves i think is now somewhere in the 2- or 3-week window before the playoffs, maybe a bit more, and that is if a team can handle the hefty 50% tax on untrained new talent above the team's revenue (cap).
nevertheless, several teams are in a position to make significant moves: Lake Merritt, Chanute (i can't believe the player he got for $119,000), Senecaville, Tucumcari, Window Lickers, all could swing, i figure, another player in the $50,000 - $60,000 range; Penlicox and Ron Swanson have team salary totals of around $350,000, and i figure both have money, either from sales or promotion; and Muppet Honey, Libertines, and Cyborgs all have team salaries under $300,000, which is well below the norm for this level.
more generally, it looks as though we have no tankers -- no team(s) who this year will have a PD of -1200. this means a very competitive league: i feel i could easily have two losses, Lake Merritt and The Hawks have already lost, Redbull is much better than its record indicates, Senecaville is busy wheelin' and dealin' and may yet deal itself a full house, and the low-salaried Libertines and Badgers have won 5 of 6 games between them. And did i mention that Chanute has filled a major hole for relative peanuts?
with so many involved and i think having a chance of winning it all, this could be a really fun season. best of luck to all.
