One problem I see here is that parents, get their kids (boys and girls) into Soccer Clubs at waaaaay too young an age and for all the wrong reasons and by the time they get to high school they are burned out from the game from either overplaying or from having poor coaches who are into winning and not developing the kids. Winning at age 8/10/12 is not everything....

Most interesting and challenging draw for next round: myopic mauraders at bmg
See how Clemens petty does against a top level team. IIRC he had NT potential skills.

I used to help some coaches with tactical training here in the U.S. and sat in on one of my friends youth training - he heads one of the more successful youth clubs in Scotland. It's tactically that I see the kids here struggle. Over the last decade or so I think the latin influence has helped us technically, at least as concerns ball skills. We aren't, say, where many of the East Asian countries are anymore in relying purely on industry at the upper levels. The youth systems of the Euro countries are also scrambling now trying to figure out how to generate competitive upper level players. The strict tactical systems of some of the traditional Euro powers struggle to produce players with enough individual flair to succeed in their league systems, and some of the traditional South American powers struggle to adhere their players in a formation disciplined enough to get the most out of their best players. In all, I think we're headed in a good direction.

And btw, my daughter is not a soccer player....my son was but not her....I would agree soccer is headed in the right direction but let the kids play, too much parental involvement. Far too many think that their kid will get a scholarship especially if they start them early. They truly have to love the sport that they are playing....that in turn gives them the drive to succeed.

Random Q: Which site skin color do people use? I've always used green except for a month when I used blue, which also happened to be the worst era in WW history. I immediately made several irrational decisions including way overpaying for a center who had my first name in both his first and last name (Jeffrey Jeffries -- spent like 600k on him and he had like strong/strong/prolific inside skills, and terrible subs, I think). I can't believe I ever recovered from my blue era. Never again.

Always used grey. Dirk is right about it being easy on the eyes too.
