Yeah, this hasn't come at the best time for me (though better than last week, when my GS was really up the crapper). But I'm still confident enough, and the game against Chum wasn't my best lineup - inserting my new SG ahead of Goodall would give me better ratings, especially as he is in better GS.

I'm looking forward to seeing what my team puts out when I get them in proficient - I expected to struggle a bit when I replaced a 200K SG with a 50K one, but now I'm not so sure, especially since I've upgraded my big man division since last season.

For what its worth, the randomness of the gameshape system really grates me sometimes. Exhibit A:

Krentscker - minutes in first week: 85, 2nd: 77, 3rd: 73 - net result - proficient gameshape

Laumianskas - minutes in first week: 76, 2nd: 85, 3rd: 73 - net result - respectable gameshape (and was in average shape after the first and second weeks)

I have a massage doc, and trained gameshape after the second week as well. BB gameshape can go get stuffed.

(and yes, I'm well aware of what the ideal minutes are, and that he was probably overplayed, especially in week 2. I just feel like ranting, well, because I can)

BBstat is calculated based on team ratings and team ratings can be influenced by a few things. For example in a blow out your bench will play more minutes and you won't expect your team ratings will be as good. Also team ratings doesn't quite calculate secondaries as well. A big man with great outside skills isn't going to affect their outside team ratings as much but could be a reason why they were owning their opposing big man with bad outside skills. That's why team ratings can be quite tricky and misleading.

For private league games, some teams might have TIE their previous cup game while others played Normal. Enthusiasm have massive influence on team ratings and changes base on each update so that's why it's easier to have higher BBstat for B3 and private league games since they are in between league and cup games. But of course I wouldn't discount teams pulling such ratings in league and cup games.

An example of inside versus outside play can show why it isn't ideal as a tool at times. You can pull really good outside team ratings which can give great numbers in BBstat but can be beaten by the lower BBstat inside team rating. Look at a past national game (18624). Without calculating I can tell we have a superior BBstat rating. Overall it's a useful comparison tool but I wouldn't rely on it too heavily.

To be fair, that NT game is dead set daylight robbery (and I'm going by the pp100 ratings).

But I agree ratings (and thus BBstats) don't tell the whole story, pp100 tends to be a better guide.

If I understand BBstats, it just basically adds together all your ratings. So it probably tells you even less than the ratings themselves - what would you prefer if you are playing LI, an extra level of OS, or an extra level of IS/offensive flow... Is a level of rebounding worth the same as a level of OD? etc...

Not the best example but haven't got any games bookmarked or remember off the top of my head that I can use as an example. But if you use coach parrot it calculates the BBstat rating and it's fairly close for outside versus inside game.

Excellent popst by both of you +1, but I am too tired to respond, I shouldn't have read them now, I wish there was a way to mark forum posts unread.

Up by 3 points with a minute left, WA jacks up a 3, concedes a two, quickly turns the ball over, concedes another 2, misses an easy jumper, concedes FTs, then misses the 3 to tie.

Yep, choke.
