Current list of potential candidates?

1.)HeadPaperPusher (Paper Pushers )

I guess I would actually need to sign up to run the team to be #1. I have already had offers from Moldova and Cyprus to run the team and turned them down. What makes Canada so special?

Only a few days left of voting...where do you see the current results?

A lot of people registered but I believe I'm the only one running actually posting in the forums.

Oops, sorry that I forgot to include you on the list. I thought it would just be easier to put everyone's name there.

I thought about running it as well but I know I won't have time and I still need to get my team better...

Okay folks - ha ha. Good campaigns and all, but who actually are the real candidates and what are their plans for the team.

Question for all the real candidates (the rest of you are just mucking up the forum):
What would you change about the way the national team has been run in the past?

The main thing would be user involvement and Writeups. Users have been fairly involved already with the past managera, but I feel like they can be involved more and I hope I can do that.

Also you can expect more writeups which will help the user involvement and hopefully interest people in trying to get players on th NT and more interested in the NT.

Other then that, there is not much more I can try to do with the team tactic wise and player wise maybe be a little more creative with our offensive and defensive strategies, but im not to sure on that one ;) the way the team has been run the past few seasons has been exceptional and we have gotten some good results. I can only hope to further those results.

if i do decide to register and run at the last minute before the deadline. my plans would be as follows.
i wouldn't change a lot as i believe the team has been achieving results that are indicative of the talent level currently with Canada.
what i would do:
try to continue to get strong results that are expected with the current talent available.
as i've said - HPP gets a roster spot and so do I!
i do have experience running a national team with 4 seasons of the U21 team previously, so i would be familiar with tactics for and against us come game time.
i have always been willing to be open to conversation regarding players, tactics, etc with any managers that are interested in providing input, insight, criticism, etc and i would continue that over the next two seasons with the national team.
i can't promise any big fancy writeups in the forums or offsite forum, as those who know me, know that i have a very busy life with work, family, and coaching in the real world, especially over the next few months as i run a high school football program and it is my busiest time of the year.

basically if you want an experienced manager who's spent many seasons in naismith before my current division 2 time, as well as national team experience. than that's what i can offer. i won't make promises to be the most vocal, rah rah, person, as i honestly don't have the countless hours to spend online doing that with everyone. but i would promise to interact and communicate 100% of the time with anything initiated by others directed towards me and the national team.

Sorry, OchO_CinCo. I was going to vote for you but Paulo's guarantee of a roster spot is too much to pass up.

What can I say, I am easily bribed.

Let me preface this by saying that I would try and run it by looking at the way it's been run in the past and trying to emulate just that. Since I started only 5 seasons ago, I've mostly seen what Beaners has done and I don't know if it's possible to really do THAT much better, so I definitely would build off of what he has going on instead of just flat out changing anything.

I think firstly, I'd try and make more use of the off-site forum; really encouraging everyone to sign-up there as it seems like a really good tool for getting everyone more involved. You can only get so much input here without knowing exactly what the NT is all about and who's on it!

Secondly, I don't know if I'd do as many detailed write-ups as bballin sounds like he would, but I'd definitely do them with regularity and try to make them short and sweet so people actually want to read them but make sure they're worth your while! If bballin wanted, I'd love to give him some sort of write-up role that I could incorporate into the NT which would be separate from my own, or just reference what he does do right now in my own updates.

Most importantly, I'd make sure Canada could go as far as our talent lets us, as I enjoy scouting and despite being a newbie in comparison to some of these guys, feel I could utilize talent and make strategies and line-ups as good as anybody. Of course, I wouldn't do this on my own! But asking for input from others such as former NT coach GM-beaners, #1 team in the world and U21 Coach The Mogul, as well as anyone else that wouldn't mind sharing their thoughts. This is a democracy :)

Either way, sounds like the competition has picked up and you couldn't really go wrong with any of the candidates that have spoken up so far....Greerzilla, bballlin, and paulo all sound like legit candidates to me!

PS: I feel this question-and-answer thread is far more valuable than any speech, so please ask away!

I personally wouldn't try to do anything much different than what Beanerz has done the last 2 seasons, but would rather continue along the same path that Canada is on.

The main change I want to make is to get people to start training some different types of SF. I would finally like to see Canada have a different SF for different tactics. Right now we have our two well balanced SF's in Kaleel and Abbot, but unfortunately they can get picked apart by a SG or PF. My goal would be to try and find someone who is willing to create a SF that can play outside tactics and one to play inside tactics.

Other than that I would like to just get on these managers with high potential 22-25 years old to keep training their Canadians and start to build some more depth and competition for this current team. Right now we get a player who can make the NT at 25 or so and will probably be on the NT team until they reach their 30's.

One last thing will be trying to persuade Naismith teams to spend their money on potential and current NT players and see if we can keep these guys in Canada and hopefully can build these players more in a way that we want to.
