Gameplan

Part of the Gameplan as explained by the staff of the Blake Street Bombers is containment. Bradbury Locker played 24 minutes in the last game and shot 57.1% That's too high of a FG for Coach Karl's tastes. Jarvis Ross attempted 6 3s, and converted on 2 of them. So they want to limit his open looks since he doesn't have a problem pulling the trigger. They want to be smart about guarding Calvin Donaldson, this aggressive player got to the FT line 6 times vs the Panthers, converting 5 of them. Murtagh and Randle are a pretty powerful rebounding combo. murtagh snagged 17 and Randle 11 in their last outing. So we plan to box them out, and take advantage on the longer rebounds with our superb outside rebounding. The Fromos aren't very adept at moving the ball around, its a lot of isolation offenses, we feel that that plays to our advantages. Murtagh, Ross, and Locker are all pretty good defenders, but we have complete faith in our offense to move the ball around, and get good looks, and take care of the ball. Locker's defense is also very aggressive, so he's one of the least efficient players in our league. Their team revolves around Murtagh from our best scouting reports, so as long as we stop Murtagh, their house of cards will come toppling down!

We also are wary of Everett Milligin, whom they didn't play in the opener, but may play tonight. He's got what it takes to be a superstar... but we'll see.

BREAKING NEWS

In a surprise move, coach Koby Karl has announced Gerry Cathey, whom did not get picked up off the TL. Will not be cut immediately afterall... Coach Karl has announced that Cathey will be starting at SG for tomorrow's match-up vs the New City Fromos. Speculation is Mitch Power, will be starting at PG, so Cathey will start at SG, to give them that pure PG presence out there still. If Power struggles to find his shot anything like Jung did... this could blow up in BSB management's faces... or it could be a coaching genius move of a lifetime.

Shoot-A-Round and practice for tonight's big game is underway. Mitch Power, anticipated to be the starting PG will not be in the line-up tonight. "With it being our first home game, and a league game, an easy match-up for the cup... We're going to give Power the cup game to show us what he's got, and let Heath Christiansen show us what he can do vs the New City Fromos tonight", says Coach Koby Karl. With Christiansen starting, the New City Fromos will most undoubtedly have to change around their game-plan for tonight's game. "Christiansen has a deeper range, better handling, better driving, and can do some damage inside. We also feel that Christiansen's rebounding ability will give us a bigger edge, since the Fromos are not a horrible rebounding team."

BREAKING NEWS!!!!
Heath Christiansen's lack of effort in practice, and bad attitude earns him a spot in the doghouse. Mitch Power is back in the starter spot, and GM Rory Cochran is seeking out "other possibilities" for The cup and rest of the season. More to come as the story breaks!

GM Rory Cochran, and Coach Koby Karl have found, targeted, and are in the process of acquiring a player they believe to be a GREAT fit for the team.

Cochran states, "he gives us the best of both worlds... Outside Defense and Passing ability on par with Jung, Range like Langevin, Jump Shot and Shot Blocking like Alston, Driving and Inside Scoring like Gerry Cathey, Average stamina and Free Throw ability, and he's as good a rebounder as Fan and Wang. He is EXACTLY what we have been looking for. What with the timing of Chritsiansen's attitude, and all that, and Gerry's ...less than ideal fit on the team ATM. We'd be foolish not to get him!"

When asking the Coach he had this to say "Kid gives us options! Inside, Outside, facilitating, defending, Kid just flat out can ball. That gives us options. 7-8 more pure athletes like this guy, and I could coach from home and retire to Palm beach!"

BREAKING NEWS
An hour before tip-off and the commissioner of league V.30 announced a new team, YOU KNOW IT joins the league. YOU KNOW IT replaces the Rusty Trombonnes.

Tom Ace, Head scout for the Blake Street Bombers: "It'll be interesting to see what the new ownership does, its so close to game-time not a lot of transfer list moves can be made, what will they do with their arena, but as far as their team... they are 18 players deep, contain 21 year old Tony Eaton who appears to be a capable scoring guard, but after him the talent drops off dramatically... they aren't very young, and the youngsters not much potential. Expansion teams always bring something new to the mix. Can't wait to see what they bring!

HOME COOKIN'!!!
The final is in! Our Blake Street Bombers have WON by a score of 80-69.

The New City Fromos put more effort into the game than the Blake Street Bombers, but it wasn't enough. Blake Street Bombers, after starting out slow, and tieing it at half, put on another 2nd half showing, for the 2nd game in a row!
It was hard to pick a Player of the Game for this one, but coach Karl said "I truly feel, the victory is due to... Rookie PG Mitch Power!"

Mitch Power playing all 48 minutes at pg, scored 15 points on 6-15 shooting, 0-5 from deep, 3-6 on FTs in the final minute, with 2 offensive and 7 total rebounds, 3 turnovers, 2 steals, 5 blocks and a rating of 3.5 but he was intimidating out there on the perimeter and tough in the lane. Spectacular defensive effort that helped Blake Street hold the Fromos to a team FG% of 22-90 OUCH!

Gerry Cathey played 34 minutes scoring 23 points shooting 10 - 21, 0 - 3 beyond the arc, and 3 - 4 FTs in the clutch, he added 2 offensive and 7 total rebounds 4 assists 1 turnover 1 steal and had a rating of 6.5.

Nate Marquez scored 18 points in 34 minutes, going 8-20, 2-7 on 3s, with 2 offensive and 7 total rebounds 2 assists 4 turnovers 3 steals and 2 blocks with a rating of 7.0

Marc Langevin 41 solid minutes, 8 points on 4-11 shooting with 7 offensive and 18 total rebounds 1 assists 6 turnovers 2 steals 6 blocks and a rating of 7.0

Clemence Alston off the bench, 14 minutes and a strong 6 points on 3-7 shooting, 0-2 from deep with 2 offensive rebounds 4 assists 1 steal 1 block and a rating of 5.5

Fan Guangbang got 14 minutes of action off the bench scoring 6 points on 3-9 shooting, 0-3 on 3s, 1 offensive and 3 total rebounds 3 turnovers 3 steals and a rating of 6.0

Anatoly Tomilin, The Captain 8 minutes in relief, 3 points on 1-5, splitting a pair of triples, 3 rebounds 1 assists and 1 block with a rating of 8.5

Carmine Sturgeon a rough start: 1 point, 0-6 shooting, 0-1 from deep, splitting a pair of FTs the first Bomber to get to the line at Area 51, at 6:16 left in the 4th quarter. Sturgeon though, 4 offensive and 20 TOTAL REBOUNDS 1 assist 3 turnovers and 2 blocks with a rating of 6.0

John Bozek, Bozz 7 minutes, no shot attempts 1 rebound 1 turnover, rating of 9.0 for the game.

Wang Dajun Less than a minute of action in the closing minutes. had a +/- of 8 while on the court though... HOLY COW!!

Blake Street Bombers out-rebounded the New City Fromos 68-47, and the Blake Street Bombers had 17 blocks as a team!!!!

"Well boys, we missed out on that one... pick of the litter too! Shame 70k just wasn't enough for him. Oh well, we got our eyes on a "consolation" prize, and if that bird don't sing... we'll find something else"
