I seem to have no luck with the tournament, year in, year out! Got three seeded teams this year and players shared minutes this week so had to play 3 players, hopefully I'll have better luck next year.
Great thread by the way guys!

Some interesting fixtures as you'd expect at this stage of the Cup. Its difficult to make predictions without knowing who is really trying or not, so I won't bother, sorry.

Having said that I think Nathaniel Team could easily upset EBBL team ZALIAS KALNAS in their game. I've played both (never beaten either) so I know both teams.

My own game, thankfully at home, sees my Durham Wasps host Sabre of Valiente. At first glance it looks like an even tie between two Div II teams. However, Sabre were in the EBBL last year and have a roster full of much more expensive players than the hosts. They run a LI offence, with a big lineup and will be hard to beat, if they really are trying to win. Home advantage helps the Wasps, possibly an edge in enthusiasm too, so there's hope. It might come down to the two SFs.

Not a good start for me , tried to be to clever tactically instead of just getting fundamentals right here.

2nd quarter has been absolutely brutal for us , cannot buy a basket and we are shooting horrible , you cant beat a high school team shooting like this never mind one of the best teams in the country.

okay so my boys are down 47-27 at the half against a very strong team , if you told me my team would shoot 9-43 from the field and only be down 20 at the half id have taken it , defensively we are getting results but we need to improve offensively , we need to punish Los Mikitos bench players but their bench has been awesome so far. Only positive here is my players are getting to the line often . Full time prediction 86 -63

Really tough first quarter, 26-19 down, too many turnovers, not enough rebounds, too many fouls. Second quarter has been very different though. We've come back to 42-44 down after a second quarter performance much more like what we needed. Steals, at least one block from each of my starters, better shooting, improved rebounding and it's close now.

We need a little more in the second half but we're in the game now.

Well we may have lost the match but we won the hearts of the whole country with our battling performance , we held our heads high even when it went against us , we never gave up. We got it back to 8 points before giving up some foul shots.

Final score Los Mikitos 88-78 Irvine Blackhawks.

The clock strikes midnight on our cindarella story. It was a truly valiant performance against the 4th ranked team in the country but ultimately we came up just short.
Good luck all still in the tourney.

Third quarter was really tight with the Wasps managing to pull level. The Wasps big men blocking and forcing misses, and the guards putting pressure on Sabre's two PGs. Either team could have won it as the fourth quarter started.

A fourth quarter in which the Wasps took control, first edging in front, then looking more comfortable as the quarter went on. Outstanding shooting giving the Wasps the edge 30-19 for a 89-78 win.

Sabre won the rebounding battle 60-49, which was actually better than expected. However they shot lower than their usual high percentage, managing to hit 34 of 98 shots.

What won it for the Wasps was the turnover battle. Sabre turned it over an unlucky 13 times, the Wasps coming up with 9 steals and a huge 15 blocks.

After last year's disappointing run to the third round of the Cup, this game has put the Wasps in the Sixth Round, equalling their best performance.

Here's hoping for another home draw BB Gods.
