I let you take a look at french D1.
At the moment the blue conference has won 10 consecutive titles, still in progress, and we often get the best promoted teams... Fresh example last season with the two undefeated D2 teams joining us. And I know this problem also occurs in other divisions.
I don't know if the promoting system is totally random and if this is just bad luck, but yes I understand that people want to change things.
Telling that time will balance the conferences' competitiveness isn't true, or at least not always in a decent time span.

I should have kept the datas but this season our conference was on average +150k$ of weekly salaries (don't forget some of us play the cup too). And I'd say that each season about 3 of the top 4 salaries are in the blue conference.
Each time a strong team can't handle our conference's rythm then it gets replaced by a really strong promoted team.

So I keep what I said. And it is just an example showing that, yes, conferences can be unbalanced for a loooong time. As it was the case in the NBA in fact

Yes and it took more than 20 seasons for the east to have an equal (and then a stronger) competition than the west conference. I don't think that's a good model for BB :)

I was just saying I don't feel like time is sufficient to balance the disparities between conferences.
But I don't have any idea on how to improve the current status without the disadvantages some of you pointed out, given I don't know how the promotion/demotion system works.

In the NBA there are no relegations,
in the NBA there are only 30 teams competing for the victory (in a broad sense ..)

If even here we want 30 to compete for primacy in the world, we can continue to compare the real world with a totally invented world ..

Well, they don't shuffle conferences in the NBA :p
It would be fun to have Golden State in the East and Boston in the West though.

Not sure if you're aware of this but Spurs (while in San Antonio) used to play in the East, and (with the league's permission) you're actually allowed to move your team to another city, even from East to West (coincidentally, Warriors was one of them iirc).

That said, it isn't impossible to switch conferences in BB either, tho it might need a lot of luck. Back in my former team, I was in a very unbalanced Div I (I started in season 3 so it was Div I for me by default). It was so bad that other than the first placed team in Big 8, all the other teams would not have made it to the playoffs in Great 8 with their game record. In fact the 7th placed team in our conference had the same record as their 4th placed team, but with a better goal difference. So I decided to just throw the relegation series in hopes of making it into Big 8 two seasons later. Sadly it didn't pay off (I got back into Great 8) but technically you will can switch conferences (with a good deal of luck)
