Welp, I have commuted financial suicide and will be most likely relegating down this season now.

Can I interest you in intentionally finishing in 7th place then?
Had figured you were pretty well off financially... especially with the few weeks of tanking or whatever that was earlier in the season.

Honestly, if your financial situation is *that* bad & you see yourself relegating anyway... wouldn't the best course of action be an immediate fire sale / remainder of season tank? That would let you get back pretty quickly & get your finances right long-term. Not doing so would only make worse the "It really sucks too because it's going to take a lot to get back to a competitive level."

Yea, I have a plan in place. It actually helped a lot that my PG just sold for 600k, which was 400k more than I even expected. So, financially speaking, I am now making a good amount of money to get me back by the en of the season. I do have some guys I am training out of position though so I will probably lose a lot of games the rest of the season and may finish 7th after all. I still have a couple pieces I could sell if I wanted to quickly have lots of cash work a fire sale, but I don't think now is the time to do that.

No, now is not the time. Before February 25th is the time. Do the right thing!

Can someone explain to me why they think weeks without a home game are a big deal? There's 11 home games a season, every season. There's no interest on cash in the bank (how I wish there were...), and even if you dip into the red on the other side it's a couple thousand dollars tops. Jason complains about this a lot too but I don't see why it makes any difference. Unless you're running at absolutely break-even and have $0 in the bank, in which case I guess it could bleed you out over the course of a few months, or if you were already at -$250k or something and it dropped you to -$500k. It's not like the low-income weeks come back-to-back-to-back or anything...

Well, I have had 3 weeks of incomes of anywhere between 400-500k to pay in salaries. Overall after TV contract and merchandise it comes down to paying 270-370k extra each week.

My only back to back home games I had this season was on a saturday and then a tuesday, in that order, so really I didn't gain any extra income during that time.

So I think the real problem comes down to how the games are placed in the schedule. So for me, I pay 3 weeks of salaries with no arena income, while not having any weeks of more than 1 home game to make up for it. So essentially I have gotten screwed so far. Later in the season I believe I have a tuesday and saturday to make up for 1 of those weeks, but im still two weeks behind even though having 11 home games and 11 away games.

It really sucks when you play like me and Jason. We play very similarly with carrying lots of salary. That's at our own risk, but when this happens we are done for essentially because we always tend to run in the red and lose money every week.

Im really not complaining thought. I should have planned accordingly, which I didnt, and it came back to bite me in the butt. I will complain with the way they place games in the schedule though.

You have always been a "by the seat of your pants" owner, a Tea Party Maverick if you will. It has definitely been a big part of your success. Willing to take risks.

You keep saying three weeks without a home game. This is confusing me. You had one on the 8th and you will have one tomorrow. You only had one week without a paycheck in that time, and that caused you to throw in the towel?

I'm still not sure what to do myself. I was so ingrained that I was going to have a three-game road trip leading into interconference play (a six season tradition for me) that I am completely flummoxed by this schedule.

Dating back to the beginning of the season I have had three different weeks without arena income.

We will see how it goes in the coming weeks. I'm really only 2 players away from competing. Might have to pull something out of my butt but who knows. I'm not necessarily throwing in the towel but it's like a football coach getting ready to throw the challenge flag but not sure if he should, that's how I am right how. Got my hand on it and have it out of my pocket but I could still always put it away, especially if someone pisses me off and makes me want I destroy them ;).

I think the end of your post & Smallfries pretty much covers it, but the perspective financially is very different in this game if you have little to no money or are rolling in money like you are. You are correct that at the end of the day we all play 11 home and 11 away games each season so it basically averages out.... however, for teams with little money there is a hit right out of the gate because there is a financial update before the season starts, so what little money the financially strapped teams have its reduced before they even get started. Week one only has one game, so if its a road game that means they have 2 consecutive financial updates without a home game. If they do have a home game to start the season, but draw the schedule with 3 consecutive road games early in the season, then again that will be 2 financial updates without home game attendance revenue.... if this rapid drop in Cash puts the team negative, yes they can make it up later when the schedule is back loaded with home games... But in the time being they are charged a 5% penalty on the amount they are negative..... Additionally while being negative a team cannot buy any scrimmage scrubs if necessary & that may negatively affect game shape, and of course an injury can be devastating to anyone, but especially to a team running with a negative cash position.

So basically some of you are living paycheck to paycheck? And not really keeping any savings even when you see that two weeks from now the tax man is coming?

I guess I feel you a bit on the start of season situation though, that is a tricky one. Especially if you made a failed playoff push.

How did this guy get on my team? (9919598) I truly have no recollection of ever signing him! Looks kinda like a more tan Vardis Sourpis without a jersey #. Is that you in disguise?
