In theory he won't be going anywhere but if the Lakers are not contending (say injuries to Kobe & Nash) and he flat out tells them he won't resign there then they could well move him rather than losing him for nothing.

Highly unlikely scenario i know but it is possible.

Also don't discount the fact that Josh Smith and Howard will end up on teh same team. Both are unrestricted FA's at years end and they are best friends (Howard was best man at Smith's wedding or vice versa). It wouldn't surprise me if they had a little pact going a la Bosh, Wade and Bron.

Holy **** can you imagine the block parties for whatever team lands those 2 as a duo? You'd love to be a PG on that team throwing alley oops all day too.

They can very fancy together but they won't win any championships =P
You need a level headed guy like Tim Duncan in there to bring back the fundamentals.
Boring bank shots all day from Duncan over fancy alley oops from Josh Smith and Dwight all day long.

Yeah the deal is good for both parties involved. Now OKC can say.. okay this is the team we got this season. Lets work it out and win a championship. And the Rockets finally have a perennial Superstar they can lock down for years and years to come. Harden is not in the tier1 status that Lebron, Durant and CP3 are in, but surely if Eric Gordon got max, Harden deserves it too.

Agree 100% he's a max player.

Here's some cool stats on Harden i saw today when he plays without Durant or Westbrook on the court

Although he did often play against the other teams bench for long periods and now he'll have to always be the first option (unless you count Lin) and always have the main focus on him. Who else do the defense have to worry about? Carlos Delfino?

Will be interesting to see how he handles being the main man because that's not a role that he's ever really enjoyed or sought after before.

Interestingly, he's not even a option for MVP on betting sites.

Hope he has a great season, the bearded one is a machine!

Yeah there was a lot of talk that he liked being the 3rd banana due to teh lack of pressure.

I think Delfino and him will be a nice outside shoot option and i was reading some stuff saying he plays well off the pick and roll so i am guessing that will work well with him and Lin.

My guess is Delfino will come off the bench and it will be Lin, Harden, Parsons, Patterson (though i think one of the others will push past him as a starter at some point) & Asik as starters.

Not an awesome lineup but certainly not the worst in the NBA. My guess is he scores int eh 22 - 25 range this season and is among the league leaders in the 3pt shooting with Ray Allen & Anderson.

I'd say his only chance is later in the season when a team needs a fill in for an injury or a team looking for some quick scoring off the bench in the playoffs
