He is definatly in with a show when he is 21. Go the single possie training, get OD up first (ideally I'd want him to be at least sensational OD by the time he is 21, getting him up to say prominent now will give you a good base to achieve that). A little bit of passing training would be good (say proficient for now) then get up his shooting skills with what is left of the season.

Hey,
I'm trying to train him to be in the U21 national team. What would you think he needs to be on the team?
Cheers

Little bit more OD even though he is a C, JR shouldn't matter that much but will help if that goes up. ID up to proficent or prominent, IS maybe proficent and reb maybe prominent and Shot Blocking should not be trained that much because of all it's salary and your C only has perennial allstar potential. It should go up because its a secondary to those inside skills.

I think for now just focus on your 3 core skills of IS/ID/Reb
He is still young and will have a good chance when he is 20/21 if trained right

Will do. Cheers, I want to get some passing training in as well at some stage though. Do you think it would be worth it?

Passing would be easy to train for him because he ain't ridiculously tall, and is already at inept. Average and above and he can average 4+ assists a game, for a big man that's awesome.

Cheers, I want to wait til the end of the season to train passing (or early next season), but considering as he is already averaging ratings of 9+ every game I think he is doing very well. :)

Nice rookie. I wouldnt bother with the outside d, it'll be way too slow for what it's worth for your big man.
If you really want him to stand out, I'd go with a mix of One on One and Jumpshot until the all star break and then switch to jump range for the rest of the season.
Next season get the passing up to average/respectable and then just blast those 'big man skills'.
By the time he's 21 you'll have a killer PF that should be very hard to stop and will be able to play in any offense.

Cheers,
Just out of curiousity, why do you suggest training the guard skills before the big man skills? Does it matter if I train the big man skills first and then train the guard skills?

I think it is because when he is young 18 yo he will train faster and the height bonus lets it easier to train inside. So if you train inside first then when he is 19/20 yo you will train outside and it will be harder to train because of age and height.
Hope its not to confusing.

Exactly. If you're going to train a player out of position, it's best to do it young if you can while training speeds are the fastest.
Stuff like Jump Shot isn't really out of position but if you're only training it for a season or so, you want the best results possible.
