what are the most important outside skills for a center?
It depends on what offense you are running. If you run an outside offense, you probably want him to be at an above average level for his most, if not all of his guard skills. If you run an inside offense, you don't need guard skills, but they would certainly help the offense.
I read somewhere that OD helps them to defend penetrating guards and they are less frequently get into foul trouble? Any other skills i should prioritize?
More OD on bigs not only helps them better defend penetrating guards, but shots from the perimeter and jumpers in general. This doesn't guarantee that they won't get into foul trouble. They may still have a few games here and there where they commit a few fouls.
Another thing is to know if they are naturally aggressive. If they are, they will naturally rack up fouls, and may become a headache in terms of training, in-game situations, etc.
I wouldn't really tell you to prioritize skills because you may run a different tactic than what I suggest, but I recommend that you keep training OD, with some 1v1 Forwards or Guards, and Passing. When you are comfortable with his guard skills, move onto his inside skills.
