Nice player you have there. Although, seeing as his player is only just turned 20 I think his skills would still be a long way behind that. If he doesn't mind posting the skills here it would be awesome to see.

Out of curiousity, in what order would you rank the usefulness of the individual guard skills for a power forward and center.
For example, is the most useful handling, followed by driving followed by some other guard skill etc etc.
What order would you have it in?

Depends I suppose, especially on tactics you want to employ. For example, if you wish to play Princeton, you' rank passing, driving and jump shot as the three most important skills.

As I see my trainee as a PF first and sometimes Big man SF (Like Lamar Odom), I rate his JS, OD and Passing the highest. Luckily he had a good JR and handling base skills when I started with him in my team.

So for guard skills, I'd say JS, PA, OD, HA, JR, DR.

I find his OD causes lots of matchup issues with other bigs who don't have passing or handling, and helps against those who do have JS, especially when he shifts over to SF when I play a big lineup.

Cool. Yeah I'm trying to train up my powerforward at the moment. Unfortunately he has low outside defence and low jump range, but the rest of his skills are good. He is only 19 though.

Great looking player!

I have a very similar player that has 97 skill points at present. He is an inside based player but I have managed his training in order to keep his salary down. Thankfully my guy has awesome potential and I will be able to train him til he is 25-26.

Your preferances for skills is perfect in my mind. OD is often a forgoten skill on bigs, but in players like yours and mine we really get to see the fruits of labour. OD can cause many turnovers and gives us managers alot of options. It is also my opinion that JS rates very high as most PF's end up taking alot of mid range jumpers, these shots rely heavily on JS.

I have seen many well rounded forwards sell for anywhere from 6-11 million at the age of 22-24.

Those days are done, I fear. Or at least they're gone temporarily and might make a comeback in the future. The market has crashed on the top end right now, particularly for big men.

BINGO!

It is certainly not a great time to sell big men, for that matter it is not really a great time to sell anything :)

The economy has made for a more even playing field as up and coming teams can spend wisely and make some pretty big leaps. More parity is a good thing imo, it gets old seeing the same teams on top with no chance of anyone beating them.

That's a good point about the salary/potential. The reason I made the point was that my 6th man has 80 skill points, $20k salary, starter potential, and can play PG SG SF and even PF in a pinch. Last year he rated out at 10.5 for the season playing 26 minutes a game. Granted I am in a small country where the competition is not great, so my experience is different than a lot of people's. But he really opened my eyes to the fact that lower potential players have a lot to offer and are far more economical.
