I think people woudl search a lot, the full 3 days from whenever they are looking at the TL
i already did it like that, because it is much easier then check everyday just the next two hours and putting in criterias etc. And cause of it i also click through the night, but this could also apply cause the player i usually look at ain't that common, but i doubt that the behaviour change that lot because if you look already at 50 nearly similiar players you also found one where you could place your autobid and you just want to buy one not three. And it isn't also reload times, it are also the waiting. If you check the list you have someting to do, if you wait to make your own bid you maybe click on the ad and look what it is(or play the flash gaming like comemrcials there when they are still there). And especially online games usually get money for each click not for pageload, because those sites only have a limitied amount of visitors who often visit their page - which is different to a newspaper where a visitor normally check out 2-3 articles and leave then again.
and they might look everyday to see how their autobids went, if they go overbid already etc
i think the incentives to do that is much higher, with the old system cause the autobid is an bid and forget feature for me - where the actual bidding with the current system could impact your strategy.
So overall i think this will reduce clicks and serverload, which could be also good economical - but i don't know if it is cause of the commercials.
