Just look on the transfer market. There are plenty of guards that are above 60k salary and less than 2 mill. They are also not one dimensional and have decent secondaries.

do you actually follow them? they dont go for less than 2m after the bid end, unless they are really old.

just search the TL list, all of them have flaws as guards... pure defense, too much JS, not enough passing... and by decent secondaries... do you just think that a guard with like 1 average in secondaries counts as decent? well I think of my guards have only decent secondaries and they certain have alot more than that. if a guard only 1 secondary then it has to be strong to be even consider decent...

Yes but look at his secondaries. Sacrificed the secondary skills in order to have higher primaries.

I can tell you I have seen guards go for less than 2 mill.

And by decent secondaries I refer to having at least 2 skills (IS, ID or REB) above respectable. If you are paying over 2 mill then you are significantly overpaying for them.

Well that is good news for my star player Oliver. I am constantly worried he is capped but lucky for me he has completly pathetic secondaries. I still think it can't just be total number of skills even though others have also said this and I have even read the numbers. Surely handling doesn't cap you as fast as outside defence?

Of these, the ones with skills most similar to Prokopis Venizelos have been selling for around $ 2 050 000 to $ 2 550 000.

I rest my case...

I don't know what his skills are so I can't comment.

Also you are looking at 21 year olds. I was looking at older/non trainees like 25-27 year olds

Considering the value of guards. My 23 year old player with 41k salary and allstar potential got following comment:
"There have been 11 recent transfers of 23-24 year old shooting guards with wondrous jump shot and allstar potential. Of these, the ones with skills most similar to Luca Rizzoli have been selling for around $ 1 400 000 to $ 3 000 000.". One of those with star player potential and 28k salary was recently bought from free agency for 1.6M at 24 years of age so probably these players are actually worth around 2 millions if well balanced and a little more if 35k salary. With a 20k salary you probably got a little less than half that money.

I took him off my training schedule as he stopped popping so should be capped at just 41k. Therefore doubt that star player will get a cap as high as 35k without training after being capped.

As advice to threadmaker:
I strongly advice you to train 2 positions and 5 players. It will as a new player be easy to rotate and give them enough minutes during your 3 games a week. With such approach it will take you 4-5 seasons to get a strong outside team and you will also be able to earn money from sellings. If you train two positions instead of 1 you probably gets a 25k guy instead of 35k guy. Doubt there is more of a difference. You are likely to get more than half the money as well when you sell.

I think that training 5 players will actually generate more transfer money if all were to be sold at 21 years of age when a player with perfect training and star potential most likely have capped. With 1-2 more seasons he will be capped with two position training and probably be possible to sell for marginally less money.

The big advantage with training 5 players is that your team will be much better in 3 seasons and you will earn more money from success in league than with just 1 strong position.

Had your player had at least Superstar potential then I would have thought that 1 position training might be motivated because then you can't reach potential until 24 or 25 with perfect training and at that age training really starts to slow down as well. My 25 year old PG is probably capped now at about 120k salary and I trained him 4 seasons or so with just one position.

You can easily use your 300k and invest them once next season starts in 4 18 year old players. You might have to settle with either a poor starting capacity (~3k salary) or with a low potential (starter or even 6th man potential) on 1 or 2 of these talents but you will surely still earn some nice money from 2-3 seasons training of them.

This is my recommendation and congratulations to a really nice player with your new team!
