Oh absolutely, this question of who is the most important player is very much dependant upon what kind of offence you play.

Maybe the poster who said the coach is most important player is onto something? ha.

I like PG the most and it's an acceptable answer from a broad point of view. SF/PF for mismatch potential maybe but I've never owned a good one at those spots.

I will say that teams with expensive/elite centres or big men (even a typical run-of-the-mill high salary in relation to league player) might take them for granted. There's no doubt in my mind that LI is the best offence and you could make a case for centres being the most crucial guys if you have good offensive flow. They're depended on to be efficient primary scorers and solid defenders because let's face it... everyone uses LI. Except me.

I've not yet been smart enough to build a team that can run an effective LI. The highest individual IS I've had on a player is 13. The highest 2 starter combo over an extended period has been 24 IS (13/11). Sad.

Generally, if everyone is doing one thing, then it is better to do the opposite. I don't think you beat LI by joining the crowd.

There is no need to beat Li to become champion. You can always play to be the best LI, but as you said, you can not do it by joining the crowd.

SF

The weakness(es) of whoever you lineup there will limit your tactical options. Well rounded, versatile SF's are the rarest players in BB. Most teams have to decide between being predictable with a SF that's very good attacking one way or being unpredictable with a couple decent SF options. Same situation on def.

I think all positions are nearly equally important, but I'd have to say PG. It's really hard to win without a great, great point guard.

Agree 100%
SF for me is the most important position. Regardless how you play the SF is involved the same amount (Medium) where's Guards & Front Court players have varying levels of involvment pending on what Offense you run. Also a well rounded 3 can cause major mismatch issues for other teams on Offense, especially for teams that run a 2 or a 4 there if they are going Outside or In.
SF's that are well rounded, 13\14's overall go for around $3 to$4 mill a piece even though there salary could be as low as $45k p\w.
