England 92 - 79 Romania

A solid performance from a slightly under shape team. But given we were on the road today we can be proud of a good showing. Galloway again showed his quality with a man of the match performance, Grierson was a risk, but worth it, given his lower shape but good quality and I was grateful to see him hold up against a strong set of PF's. All in all we come away with a win and with two tough games to play we are in a good position to give it our best shot. We really need the gameshape next week as the Ukraine are very strong. I hope to make it close, but really we are strong underdogs for that one. The last game away to the czech's will be another very hard game to handle.

Roll on the next game!! Well done all who got their players into good shape this week!!

Seems I've gone quiet again since Gully built up the Greece win (quickly followed by LaurynasZ bursting that bubble again :D )

England u21 48-78 Poland u21
A double correct prediction but not the game I'd want it in...I chose to save enth. for upcoming battles instead. Taylor and Thomas aren't identical players so Taylor injured after 5 mins was unfortunate, I can't say how much better we might have done, but likely not too much, we couldn't get anything going offensively (look at all those steals/blocks for the opposition). Shame I didn't get to see how my original gameplan would've played out though. Poland are impressive.
MVPs are tough, especially with a zone defence so you can't give individual credit on that basis. By a process of elimination, the two worst of the big minute guys were Flanagan and Allen so..
3: Thomas. 2: Cummins. 1: Athur

The big one: Lietuva u21 70-88 England u21
A crunch against a TIE, this time with more effort being used on our side. It looks like that makes up for 825 managers on their side, and 159 on ours.
Tough first quarter and we were still losing at HT but in the 2nd half pulled away and it was fairly comfortable in the end.
Nice even offensive from our top 4 guys. Athur missed some FTs but was the most efficient offensively and grabbed a lot of important rebounds, Cummins had the most defensive counting stats and Allen hit two 3s which are always a bonus from a big.
3 points to Arthur, 2 Cummins, 1 Allen.

In the other big game last Monday we had Poland beat Estonia by just a point! It was the same situation as us vs. Lith, where the underdog (Estonia) crunched after saving enth. in previous rounds. Shame they didn't win, as if they did we'd have all 4 teams on 6-1 records and the two winners from today's round of game would qualify which would've been lots of fun.
As it is, Poland are all but guaranteed to be in based on their PD advantage, but any of the other 3 can still get in. I think we're the underdog again (based on GS mostly, I'd say we'd stack up OK at 4 positions at least otherwise), but there's a chance we qualify for the next round which'd be pretty huge. Shame Bartolo/Flanagan haven't been in better GS this season as they're very good players for their age, same for a couple of others this week. I'd say it's been a good season whichever way this goes though?
6pm our time! I may or may not be online though as it's the girlfriend's birthday...

If anyone wants to message me about their 19-20 year olds it's a good time as we need to start looking at next year's team.

Game ongoing but I’m not optimistic.

We’ve gone into this game with none of our inside men in good shape and only 3 in ok shape.

I hope our gameshape gremlins change going into the next phase as it matters so much more now.

Probably the last competitive game this season, the team is the walking dead inside, we have 3 starters in poor shape. Frankly this has been a hugely disappointing season for me, we did so well in the middle and actually have a team fully capable of competing at the top level. Sadlly due to our gremlins we were unable to keep enough players in shape to make a go of it.

Thanks for all the managers who worked hard (especially on our guards) to keep players in shape.

You have, sorry. We had a vote and Woody = bad narrowly beat Woody = good. You can't trust the English to vote on anything these days and come back with the right answer. It just is what it is and apparently you have to follow these things through despite the downsides...

Alternatively I haven't scouted 20 year olds yet this season so haven't got back to your message. I'll be doing that today or tomorrow then I can give you a clearer answer on specific training if that's what you'd like. I didn't think I needed to respond instantly, or that you needed any guidance as you're an experienced trainer / BB manager? (I have replied to some messages in the past few days so I haven't abandoned my post or anything...)

Personally I think you can always trust the English.

Seeing how English people voted on the worth and the chances of the English football team on the web (repeatedly), I must say that using 'can't...these days' rather than 'can always' seems like the more reasonable, measured take here...

Consider this: at least once in your life you must have voted for someone or something that didn't win or disagreed with coworkers on how to do a job. So either you trust the 'English' more than you trust yourself or you can't realistically always trust all your fellow citizens.

I, for one, never trust train staff or politicians (on any side) or our football dreamteam of shame iteration after iteration, but I do recognise that the never part is due to some generalisation on my part, despite being based on solid evidence.
