I decided to look at each team and label each one what NBA team would resemble who they are, some got labeling from the past but only if I can't find a good suitable comparison to make to. Note that most are not the perfect examples of NBA comparison so this would be hard to draw a perfect comparison, especially since BB has this issue of lack of SF and real life injuries make some players not count as much. For those of you teams who are struggling, please don't take offense, rather use it as a motivation and realize being in division 3 makes your pretty darn good team anyways.
BIG 8
Imperial Phantoms - San Antonio Spurs
Not the perfect comparison but would seem more like it if they had still David Robinson with 2 man maintaining the inside. But the deep team that has dominat PF like Duncan and good guards like Ginobli & Parker and having deep depth and most of all, winning, makes Phantoms looks more like the Spurs.
Cleveland Crazys - Houston Rockets (with healthy Ming)
Rockets not as good as Crazys comparison wise but the squad is similar. Marmolejo stands out from the rest just as Ming does and then there is that Herschel Barry guy who can be compared to Kevin Martin. Houston still is strong and deep in big men just as Crazys are with guys like Estinar & Backhouse, Straum can be compared to Scola, Hayes, Brad Miller.
TDX Dutchmen - New Jersey Nets (Kidd/Carter/Richardson Era)
The squad's powerhouse comes from the PG,SG, and SF who propel this team to a good & athletic squad that can win games just as those Nets back in the day.
VDs - Golden State Warriors (But better)
From winning standpoint, they are not to be drawn a comparison. But like the Warriors, VDs have a young formidable backcourt who can dribble and shoot the hoops. Like the Warriors too, their SF is the weakest spot but they got guys deep that can rebound and defend.
Tachenko - Dallas Mavericks.
Initially said Raptors W/ Bosh of last year but Tachenko deserves more respect. While not a strong comparison to the Mavericks there are just few teams with good PF & C in the NBA. Mayagoitia reminds me of Nowitzki as he can shoot the 3 but little less of 3 and more rebounder than Dirk. Tyson Chandler is solid but Osias Martinez is better. While the backcourt of the Mavericks would considerably be better, like Tachenko the average points range is between 10-16 by the main backcourt guys in Maverick's Terry, Marion,Caron Butler and Tachenko's Major, Mihaylov, & Clinton Butler. Butler would be compared to Jason Kidd but scores more and assists & rebounds less but is a stealing machine. Again this is weak comparison but you had to consider good comparison for Mayagoitia.
Red Terrors - Memphis Grizzlies
Their best players but not by much are big men Jansson & Matas who's numbers also have similarities to Gasol (like also good BLK & STL) & Z Randolph. Like the Grizzlies they also got guys playing SF & SG (not so much Mayo this year) that score in the high teens in Eason & Navales.
Champaign - Detroit Pistons
Like the Pistons, Champaign lead scorers in Stuckey/Gordon/Hamilton/Prince don't score much and they come from guards that can drive to the basket. Like the Pistons in Greg Monroe, Champaign have young talented center in Linaras Trakys. Allan Weber has not played since January but he can be compared to Tayshaun somewhat.
Chicago Flames - Utah Jazz (Post Deron Era)
Flames found their way into winning games and we see the big guys seem to take most advantage in Flames José María Las Heras Tomás & Marko Bezic like the Jazz Al Jefferson & Paul Millsap. You won't see too much similarity in the PG,SG,SF but the scoring range between 10-15 can be seen from the two. This isn't the perfect comparison but as repeated such is the case when your best players are your big men.
The Great 8 comparison will come up next
