The european championship starts tomorrow. Portugal is the host and we play in group D.
In Europe, the level of competition is quite harsh and there are a lot of teams which are more or less on the same level. Our group is no exception.

1) vs. Lietuva
We play against the strongest team first. Lithuania is currently the third ranked team in Europe and the have a frontcourt of three 200k+ bigs. If this wasn't enough, their backcourt and bank has enough players to fill at least two teams. This team is the clear favorite for first place and the real deal will be the second place behind them.

2) vs. Nederland
The Netherlands were in the second bowl and will be one of the hardest competitors for second place. They have a balanced team and it will take an almost perfect game from our side to beat them. The scrimmage from the start of the season was just a no defense game. This one will be on a completly different level.

3) vs. Bosnia i Hercegovina
Bosnia has an extremly strong frontcourt. Three bigs with 200k+ and two more at almost 200k salary. Judging by their frontcourt, they could even compete with Lithuania. This is another potential second place hunter.

4) vs. Bulgaria
Managed by the two time reigning BBB Champion, Bulgaria has a team in its prime. Like us, they have a wide range where they can end up.

5) vs. Albania
Albania has a weaker team than we do and if we want a shot high rank, we will have to beat them.

6) vs. Wales
Same goes for Wales. We are the favourite in this game and no matter what, we have to win it.

7) vs. Georgia
The last game is against Georgia. In my opinion a very dangerous team. On of the best guards in this game is from Georgia and he has a really good supporting cast around him. I wouldn't be surprised if they beat some of the other higer ranked teams.


So to summerize the situation in our group:
- Lithuania is the favourite
- The Netherlands and Bosnia are the most propable teams to secured second place
- we, Bulgaria and Georgia are the pursuers and could have a shot at second place
- Wales and Albania will be the deceiding factors if the other teams end up with the same win-lose ratio

So for us, from second to sixth place everything is possible. It's a really wide range every game day could shake the standings. Like I said the level of competition is balanced and small things will deceide who will win.

Yesterdays' game showed us, that Lithuania is on a different level. Their first game and they already had an Inside rating of 15! that's higher than some teams get during a tournament.
Säfen was the only one who could hold against. The rest of the team had a lot of problems to find an open or good shot.

For us the real tournament starts next Monday. And it will be a hard series of games with the target for second place.

We lost against the Netherlands and somehow it felt like 1 vs 5. Säfen was the only one who could outplay them and we had again a critical shift towards our guard. During the last seasons Birgersson was like a counterweight and we had a more balanced game. This season there is no one (yet) who can take this role. And I really don't like it.
It is frustrating that one of our main bigs is set cold.
Next week we have to play against the next unbeaten team: Bosnia. Like always I will try to get the best out of our team.

I messaged Birgerssons owner with a request to buy and tried to report him to GMs but to no avail.
Such an annoyance

Did the same. I even contacted the BBs, so the topic is reported.

Loss against Bosnia, Stjärnland injured for 2 weeks and some minutes are pretty high this week... it doesn't get easier this season.

After four losses the first win! It was really important.

Yesterdays game was a real strong defense play. We had the fewest points allowed from all teams. The right GDP was a helping factor.
Fredriksson had no real motivation to play, so he left the game with 6 fouls. Gustavsson had to replace him in his first NT game. his debut was a good one with 7 pts and 5 assists.
The overall FG% of our team was a little bit to low. But still, a nice performance.

The next two games will be also "we will give it all to win" games.
An update on Birgersson: his manager was online again... after 5 weeks. I asked him again to do something and sell Birgersson. It's clear he has no value for him and he just keeps him on the roster.

Georgia wanted a rematch, so we played on in Bulgaria.
During the first half it looked like they could beat us, but during the second half our team came back and we won by a small margin. Gijon surprised me with his strong scoring. For a defense specialist he was fantastic.

Like last season, if possible and your NT players are weak in stamina or free throw, give them a little bit training.
