I don't place much in the boxscores but I do remember reading something from last draft where some of the more experienced players were saying the boxscores can be useful in determining something based on the personal fouls a player has. This I guess has to do with the rumoured (confirmed?) hidden "aggressiveness" stat. What I want to know is, are more fouls (i.e. an aggressive player) a good or bad thing? I have a scouted couple of players who had 4-5 fouls in only 20-26 minutes of playing time. Are these players over-aggressive and I should stay away since they will limit themselves in playing time due to foul trouble?

My understanding of the confirmed aggressiveness/physicality trait is that a player with high physicality is more likely to foul but he's also more likely to get fouled. So if you had an inside player with high IS or a guard with high driving/handling who was very physical it could end up being a net gain for you, but you probably don't want a defensive specialist centre with high physicality. (and you probably don't want too many players who are on either extreme)

Yo all. Well 20k per week the whole season and there are a total of 3 players with 3+ potential. So which of these homeboys do I list first?

Non-training position 5 star A+ 4 potential 18 - would have to sell him
Training position 5 star A- 4 potential 19
Non-training position 5 star A- 3 potential 18 - would have to sell
Training position 5 star rest unknown

Can't say any of these really thrill me as a first pick. Then again I pick late so maybe I wont get any of them. I have listed them in my current order.

to be honest the reason you got so many iffy answers is because no one is certain about things like salary caps and potentials but none-the-less i'll try my best.

PLAYER A: just so you know training begins to slow down from 19 onwards and i think that even if a player were to star with a 6k salary, even trained properly he may never reach his full potential, there are so many factors to account for and its unlikely that a player won't suffer an injury in 5 seasons. Also as you may know training certain skills also depends on the level of other similar skills, i.e if you are training ID its best to have IS of a similar level.

And yes that may be true but with those kinds of players people normally sell them because noobs and people with a lot of cash just see the potential and immediately think the player will be epic. If you did have a player like that and wanted to train him you could by all means, especially if he is a center skills can make the salary jump very quickly and you could find that there is not much of a difference between similar players with one who had a higher starting salary.

NO NO NO!!!! Its a common misconception to think that potential has ANYTHING to do with training speed!!! Height, Age and skills i.e the higher the better and the more similar the better are the only things that affect training speed! Potential also doesn't affect how common pops will be, for example, if you are training 2 centres, 1 is 7 foot with all star potential and the other is 6'7" but with Hall of Fame potential there is no argument that the first will train faster!

It alllllll depends on what you are looking for, personally i'd still train a player with starter or star potential if i wanted him and if he suited my needs at the time. A lot of new players make the mistake of thinking that potential is everything and the higher the better, but truth be told you probably couldn't afford to have an HOF potential player and train him up, his salary would be too much for you to handle, especially if he is a center. Well i don't know your finances but they get expensive pretty quick. Further more you may only need a plyer who has a salary of around 20k to be top of your league and it may be smart to invest in 2 players with worse potential and train them up equally than to have a single player with epic potential getting all the training. At the moment you should be looking to develop your team and decide whether you are inside or outside orientated or training big men or guards.

It is true that in your case player B's training will begin to slow sooner provided their height and so on are the same. Just to answer your Q ;)

But you are new right? this is your first draft? You should be looking for 1 good player if not 2 and train them up equally in the hopes of developing a better team, not just a better player. Thats my opinion at least.

i tend to ramble but hopefully i helped i'm in a rush and have to go now but i can reply later if you want. Good luck :)

By training speed I mean that PLAYER A will take longer to hit his salary cap... therefore compared to PLAYER B, his trainin will be faster....as in lets say they both are trained equally... Player B will hit his cap lets say when he's 21... PLAYER A will still not have hit his soft salary cap... and won't have training stalled as much... as in this part of your answer:

yup! I'm new... the high potential dude with low skills isn't my first pick... I went for two players with 5 star rating, A+ and 3 potential as my first picks... :) the high potential one was jus like a mini lottery thingy for me.. if I get him... and his skills suck will TL him :) But might might jus keep him for experimenting sake... we'll see! first I need to get him! lol! : )

thanks again!

edit: oh no! epic fail at trying to use quotes!! ahhaha!

WOW, sounds like you have some nice players there!!!

Unfortunately for yo, you only pick 10th which is pretty bad considering there are only 16 teams. But there is still the chance that you are able to get your top pick. Good luck man :)

Ye i guess if you were committed to training a player for like 5 or 6 seasons you'd want him to have a higher potential so that he doesnt cap quickly. But for someone like you who already has 2 young trainable shooting guards and 1 trainable PF i would be looking for another PG, evevn if he doesn't meet your standards guards tend to sell for more and are normally in higher demand. Anyway in my first draft i had epic luck and drafted a C with respectbale/average for almost everything, starting salary of like 6k and allstar potential and so my first draft was awesome! And thus i hope you have similar luck :D

Just remember dont be disappointed and rash with your decisions to fire or sell players you draft you may come to regret the decision of not training or keeping them.

thanks buddy! good luck to you too :)

fortunately for me (for the draft anyway... it gets a lil less interesting because of this as well) there are only 5 active players in the league... the rest are all bots :( And 4 of the 5 are ranked above me! So I'm praying the bots random others apart from my top 3!! lol!! :D

The top three of my draft are guards / pgs :D
