mind adding a line when shome blockes...

like:

playe x goes up for the shot ater player y send him a great pass.
but was blocked/got rejected by player Z or something like that?

btw, great work on the lines so far.

Rev

At present he can't do that, as the viewer output currently does not allow for noting blocked shots on commentary.

Thanks for the the offer Charles. Just off the top of my head I'd love extra lines included for -

Offensive fouls (pushing off, moving screen, defense drawing a charge)
Time outs (coach wants to draw up a play, player gets trapped by the defense)
Assists before the score (bounce pass, drives and sees an open man, threaded through the defense)
Shooting fouls (body contact, hit on the hand, blocking foul with continuation)

I'll get back to you with a full list in a while if that's ok, one I've thought it over and talked to Elboss.

Can you add a line for what happens after a dunk is scored... Player X beats his chest wildly / flips the bird at the opposing coach...etc

Ha, yeah I'd love to see a celebration event. But like Charles said it's tough to implement anything not already there. It might sound easy to implement, say a one-in-twenty chance after a score for a player to "celebrate" but if anyone's ever coded before i'm sure you'll understand that implementing "easy" things usually breaks about ten other things in the code. What I'm doing is changing text strings, nothing more.

Also, I don't want opponent's players to ever give my coach the middle finger!

Thanks for the feedback all the same Super and everyone else who's participated in my little project, I hope you're enjoying the changes.

Hey - just 1 new observation you might want to look at.

Forces up a desperate 3 seems to be included a lot and more often than not results in a score!! Its like the opposite of the famous 'goes up for a strong dunk' = never scores!!

The word 'Arching' is still missing a 'H'... still reads arcing shot...

Keep up the good work!

Perhaps clear up the ambiguity of "high arc-ing" and "high arching" by using "looping"

I also think that 'desperate' 3-pointers seem to have quite a high percentage - and must be a bit of a wind-up for the coach on the receiving end. I mean, I hit 15-44 3s in a come from behind win, imagine how fed up the other coach must've been to see all those 'desperate' shots hit nothing but net :-D

Ha, yeah I've noticed the "desperate" thing too, I'll have a look at it tonight.

The "high arcing" call is the correct call though, it's a term NBA commentators use quite often.

An "arch" is more of an architechural term, for bridges and the like. "Arcing" is when an electrode moves from one point to the other in a rainbow like manner, so its a more suitable term for the flight of a basketball.... i guess

"arcing" still looks wrong, though. Don't get me started on how North American sports commentators misuse the English language ;-)

If it looks like a typo (it does), and you can use something more UK English (you can), which is just as descriptive <cough> looping </cough>, then why not change it? (please, it's starting to really irritate me).

Hey, I really like the match viewer, I think this idea you've had could do well. My only suggestion would be more for free throws, I seem to get the same few every time, would be good to see others. And please don't take that as a complaint, it isn't! I am fully for this idea. :)
