Oh. The gamble would have been there for the Nuggets if they really wanted him because he's obviously pretty money hungry and i'd say would have been a decent chance to take that 3yr $65mil offer from the Nuggets if there was no trade. Nuggets got the Knicks to give up half their roster though so good for them. Nuggets, you are winnah!

billups is a very good PG... hes old but I dont think Felton can ever reach his level so Knicks got an upgrade there...

basically Carmelo for 3 young starters that may or may not be good...

Chandler = have been a good prospect for ages but I dont think he will ever be a super star like melo,

Gallinari = no grudge bear against the guy but his defense is terrible, cant play inside despite his size, not fast enough to play as a SF... basically a inferior, smaller, weaker version of Bargani...

Randolp = could be good, but have he actually play really well? limited minutes despite all the hype... he could be like another grant hill... theres a reason Antonie bench him... we dont know why yet...

and no knicks didnt gut their roster since they give up some 2nd round picks and a pick that nuggets might not even get to use if you believe the 2012 prophecy ;)

Billups for Felton and melo for chandler....

still have fields at SG, Amare at C or PF... no changes to their weakness except maybe they could have gotten a legitimate Center

Nuggets needed draft picks... if the nets deal have fallen through... I will take favours + 4 1st round pick even without harris.... great base to build from...

Wow. I think i'll just say that i disagree with most of what you just said except the bit about the Nets deal. I probably would have chosen the Nets deal over the Knicks one if i had the choice too.

Felton, even though he was average, suited the style the Knicks run. Billups doesn't.

Mozgov suits the Knicks offense, he runs the floor. Turiaf doesn't. That's a downgrade, and now there's less backup.

Chandler and Gallo are solid players with good upsides. Melo plays as much D as Gallo. Infact Melo is an awful defender.

sorry but grant hill cannot be put in the same sentence as anthony randolph! he will never become another grant hill.

"He entered the league to high expectations, where many expected him to be the future face of the league in a time when Michael Jordan was retired. In his first season, he averaged 19.9 points, 6.4 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.77 steals per game, and became the first Pistons rookie since Isiah Thomas in 1981–82 to score 1000 points. Hill ended up sharing NBA Rookie of the Year Award honors with Jason Kidd of the Dallas Mavericks, becoming the first Piston since Dave Bing in 1966–67 to win the award. Hill also won the Sporting News Rookie Of the Year award. He was named to the all-NBA first team in 1997, and all-NBA second teams in 1996, 1998, 1999 and 2000."

ok first off i disagree with alomost everything split j says :)

second you guys have missed half the trade

The Post, citing a league source, said the Knicks would send Wilson Chandler, Raymond Felton, Danilo Gallinari, Timofey Mozgov and a 2014 first-round draft pick to the Nuggets, who would get additional picks and cash.

Along with Anthony, New York would acquire Chauncey Billups, Shelden Williams, Anthony Carter and Renaldo Balkman, according to the Pos

As long as Chicago don't do something stupid and make a play for him. Derrick Rose is the man, and the Nuggets would want Noah and that would set the Bulls back abit. Although we've been playing well without him

What the Bulls really need is a star SG. One that's money from 3PT range, or a least start Krover and see how he goes.

Korver should never be a starter, he doesn't defend well enough to warrant starter minutes. As proven with is time with the 76ers and the Jazz.

The Bulls however are trying to get JR Smith or Rasual Butler. Neither are starters but can share the SG/SF spot with Deng, Korver and Brewer.

He's too old and slow, it's a pretty fair statement.

He will also be near untradeable at 14 mill x 2 years (and what, 37? at the end)

And I like the guy! and his game, he's just not suited to the knicks offense with a 7 man rotation over the course of a season. Might be ok for the playoffs but it would be hard.

Three things here from me

1 - Everyone gets hung up on Carmellos scoring but he plays NO D AT ALL. Just like Amare - they won't be winning squat anytime soon even if they managed to land Chris Paul.

2- When Miami & Boston put together their big threes they both got elite defenders in the deal (Garnett & LeBron) as well as a 2nd guy who was decent (Pierce & Wade). NY has none of this. The bench depth will come in the offseason or NY but it won't really matter. D'Antoni is a very good offensive coach. He has managed to make NY the 2nd highest scoring team in the league........but he does nothing on D - they concede the most points. Amare and Carmello play right into this.

3- I think they will take a dive this season as they now have lost their best spot up shooter in Gallinari (crusical to D'Antoni's system) and the 2 biggest acquisitions(Melo & Billups) are not great at playing the pick and roll which is Amare's bread and butter.
