I am curious as to why you think the team needs another big man? At this point the 5 guys on the roster should have no issue getting us thru the next few games. Obviously if game shape continues to be an issue or becomes a bigger issue you may have no choice.

Secondly Isaac is far from the next best call up, he has absolutely zero secondaries. A guy like TSA is far better suited to be playing for the NT, and there are plenty of others that would be in front of him. It is time that us Canadians start valuing more than just a salary, have a look at the Czech NT and see the ratings they put up. That is all based on balanced builds not mono monsters like Massicotte.

This is an option... He is equal to Massicotte from what I recall. But again this is a mono monster that has no business being on the team.

I would encourage you to have a look at my last B3 game. The starters on the opposing team had far bigger salaries than mine, especially the guards. And I managed to win with a balanced roster, yes home court helped but was not the only factor.

We don't have any real callup options for our next game. My first choice (and really my only choice) would be TSA but his GS is terrible. Massicotte is injured and his GS is terrible as well. Blackburn has the GS but I agree with Beanerz, he is just too one dimensional. I'd just go with who we have.

oh jeez, you people are no fun at all...
trying to instill comedic and entertainment value into my posts are totally no working

1) no, massicotte is not going to be called up and is not even considered at this point
2) yes, TSA is on the radar, but until his gameshape turns for the better, well, tough luck
3) im just throwing the idea out there because canada has somehow stacked itself with guards but bigs are much weaker by comparison, and going down the depth charts, we have more up and coming guards than bigs... if i cant get a plan set in place to develop the next maja or the next demers, we WILL be stuck with mono skilled guys like moran

Hopefully his owner sells him, he should be starting for us but his owner plays him 3 games a week.

TSA played 22 unneccesary minutes in a 60 pt blowout last night. Stupid is as stupid does...

Ya the last wicked big man was Glenn Richards. I think he made it straight from the U21 team to the NT. Though having balanced big men are nice for various reasons I personally think some managers put too much into it and then there NT value diminishes. I'm guessing the last manager that really kept training a big man in primiares, who really didn't need anymore secondaries, was Jutras' manager.

Of course if you picked up Blackburn, and with having Macciotte, and trained some passing for a season or two or three they could be decent options. Lol.

We could really use some managers of younger big men that have decent secondaries to stop training them and make them legit big men by getting those primaiaries popping. I'm pretty sure Glenn Richards manager never really ever trained any secondaries. He did start with decent ones though. But it's "All about the Benjamins" that they want to eventually pay them every week.

well, training bigs require a fine balance

on 1 hand, you need the primaries to make the player worth it.... but that eats into the salary really fast
on the other hand, you want to pop secondaries because a big with all primaries will turn the ball over and probably foul a lot..... but that eats into his value and NT potential

bballin and i are working on a NT/U21 requirements and hopefully come up with better guidelines for managers that are looking to train NT caliber players

I could not disagree more but that is one of my favorite things about BB. Everyone can and does put stock in different things so not many teams are built identical.

IMO balance is the difference maker. For example most teams in Naismith will have big men with at least two but more likely three Prodigous skills. But there are very few that have the same Prodigous skills along with a few other prominent plus skills. If those prominent + skills are in passing, driving and JS you have your self a pretty solid player that will contribute in many areas. The same can be said for Guards, Burns you should know that by now. I mean how many times have my pathetic guards shut down you NT tandem? This is not a coincidence it is based on builds...

If I may throw my two cents out there.

Personally I agree that having balance is key. Especially at the club level, but I think that the monoskilled bigs definitely serve their purpose when running an inside focused offense at the NT level.

I have always wanted to have 2-3 of these beasts on the NT. Only to be used when running a LI or a LP, unless necessary due to bad GS. Maja at PF with Moran, Massicotte, Blackburn, Minnerup, Mompati at the C in a LI offense would do wonders. Obviously we have Moran, but we all know about his GS issues, so having another one or two of these guys would help the team. Right now Canada is easy to play against. A 3-2 zone because if we play LI against a 3-2, we do not have good enough inside scoring to really take advantage to much. Then the REB loss from a 3-2 for the opponents will not harm the much as we have abismal rebounding anyways.

These monoskilled players can help us become more of a threat. Give us two viable options. Obviously if we had a balanced player with the primaries of a monoskilled beast then that would be ideal, but who could afford that salary?

Or maybe im just stupid.

The line of thinking that mono skilled players serve a purpose on the NT is flawed. A triple colossal big man is going to be a disaster in cerain situations without solid secondaries, for example when he faces this big man(Poland NT- last seasons champion) he will get demolished 9 out of 10 times.

Is there any question that this guy is better than Moran? Plus he has a lower salary, so may not be a piece of transfer list meat.

The key is to build smart players that are salary efficient. Players that can contribute in all area's not just IS,ID and Reb are far superior. We need to encourage training apposed to asking someone to be a mono skilled farm, that is what sets the top NT's apart from ours.
