The best answer is that we don't know. If he actually did use drugs to enhance his performance, then that's pretty uncool. If not, it's sad that all this had to happen. We don't know, though.

What he's done since his competitive days I have respect for, though.

I have no doubt that he doped.. he just never got caught... I am of the mindset that if someone is spouting bullshit and innuendo about you, you fight it with every breath... to simply give up, says i am guilty, and hopefully the facts dont go public now...

If there wasnt an American running the UCI, I think it would have been a completely different journey for Lance.. 1 day the truth will come out, and guys like Pat Mcqaids heads will be on platters...

He probably did dope. Where there is smoke, there is fire generally.

But given the rate of doping in cycling, its probably likely that a few of the people who came 2nd in the tour de france in the years Armstrong won it probably were doping to (I believe a few of them had a history of doping as well).

Regardless of whether he doped or not, to come back from life threatening cancer and win six tour de frances in a row is still a damn fine achievement.

Let's be honest, the 90s was full of doping by most of the cyclists. Just that catching the big fish makes headlines. At the end of the day, the sport is heading in the right direction but this era is paying for last era's shame. A massive PR nightmare!

I just think I don't want to believe that he did it after all those late nights watching those 7 tours...if he was doped up when he won those tours then how was he still good enough for 3rd when he came back from retirement?? It just boggles the mind.

I am with ya Tremell, I have watched the tours and read his books.

It's highly likely that he (like most others) took drugs during that era. But still there is no hard proof of it, just some hearsay for x-riders. I still think he is one of the greatest athletes of all time.

Yeah I mean you never want to worship or look up to a potential cheat but I don't know what good can be gained out of it coming out now. About the top 5 in all those tour wins are now implicated in doping so it just cheapens the sport for the 'most likely' clean cyclists we are seeing now.
