Hopefully one of those that i have will be sold very shortly.

$50k is an interesting number though. Of the 4 that i have over $50k, only one is above $60k.

ahhhhhhhhhhhh statistics.

Just to help you guys out here are the stats for the salaries for the league.

01. The J ballers (38880) 14 $ 443 877 $ 31 706 $ 45 011
02. Corio Bay Giants (38677) 12 $ 439 414 $ 36 618 $ 35 646
03. Cunning Linguists (196288) 15 $ 414 390 $ 27 626 $ 31 957
04. hopelessly addicted (38913) 16 $ 403 577 $ 25 224 $ 29 297
05. tannum tantrums (38711) 11 $ 392 208 $ 35 655 $ 39 442
06. TeamAkuma (38644) 13 $ 378 814 $ 29 140 $ 41 048
07. Northcote Slammers (38593) 13 $ 362 473 $ 27 883 $ 26 899
08. Geelong Vipers (38592) 12 $ 361 420 $ 30 118 $ 29 569
09. The Players (38819) 11 $ 334 770 $ 30 434 $ 32 819
10. Coalcliff Clippers (196103) 15 $ 329 228 $ 21 949 $ 23 266
11. West Indies (196423) 11 $ 325 007 $ 29 546 $ 23 115
12. Hadders Heros (38744) 11 $ 323 912 $ 29 447 $ 22 004
13. Mayhem (196212) 12 $ 322 109 $ 26 842 $ 35 724
14. CROCKERS (38606) 8 $ 305 839 $ 38 230 $ 41 549
15. Wagadugu Hippopotamuses (196142) 11 $ 204 223 $ 18 566 $ 17 394
16. Mad Rangas (196653) 12 $ 182 285 $ 15 190 $ 17 666

Such a compact league. Except for the Hippos and the Rangas everyone else is within $140,000 of eachother, so if CROCKERS bought one $140,000 big man they would jump to the top salaries in the league. Who will make a big move to break away from the pack? Sid has done it before and while training is nice, a season tanking in the ABBL would let him get a level seven trainer and do out of position training with no worries, hard to top that.

Thanks Yoda for trying to stir up some interest in this league forum.

Since the loss of VIOS the forum has died down a bit and I had been contemplating posting a RIP editorial about the demise of this forum.

Well I wont be buying another trainer for a while as during the week I spent 808K on level 6, 20k per week trainer.

Big mistake.

Anyways if you disregard the number of wins for each team in the corresponding places in each conference, then the conferences are almost identical.

Both conferences have a team trailed off in 8th place (being the Hippos and Rangas) who are each out of touch with the 6th and 7th placed teams who are on an equal number of wins.

The 5th team in each conference is only 2 games away from the 1st placed teams.

Both conferencess have ABBL experienced cashed up teams in 3rd place who potentially could monster this league.

I think this league is wide open and with so many great managers in this league I can't imagine everyone will just sit on their hands. Corio Bay Giants, Hadders Heros and hopelessly addicted have the experience and have been there before. Any one of them could do it. Northcote Slammers is a very well managed team and would have made the ABBL but in season 19 CROCKERS did a sid vicious and rented a superteam and stole the championship. TeamAkuma, Geelong Vipers and Cunning Linguists are all well run teams with smart managers who must be looking at the situation and considering their options. West Indies have a very cheap but effective team and must be loaded so could splurge. There are still another four teams in reach who could make the playoffs and with a massive spend take the championship from 4th. CROCKERS, hopelessly addicted and Slam ! have all done it so it isn't as hard as people think. Make 4th, buy up a $1,000,000 roster for three weeks and promote. I don't really like these last minute rent-a-teams but the rules allow it and it is fun to see people go all in to win.

IMO Top 5 is pretty much sorted for both conferences. been the first time since i promoted that its been even mildly obvious this early in the season who is going to finish bottom 3.
I just cant see the guys winning 3 more games and percentage than the guys currently in 4th/5th (ie: me! hah)

If nobody makes a big sale, then Home court advantage is going to be huge and i think the guys on the Great 8 side of the conference will struggle to make up the difference in order to achieve this......, which suggests a winner from Big 8. Windies, HA or the Giants, or Vipers. Unfortunately i dont think ive got enough home games left to really challange to get into HCA territory....5th this year is different though so id still love to play finals
Vipers and HA have one less home game compared to Giants and Windies as well.....

I dont think I quite had the full mill on my roster and I reckon I had them for more like 6 or so weeks rather than just 3.

Not to the same extent as myself but from memory the great Whitebeard brought up a bit as well the year he promoted from this league.

Did you buy up in season 17 Yoda, when you promoted?

Who will make a big move to break away from the pack?

I wont be the first to buy up as I dont want another Beechy on my conscience but maybe teams like Avalon Jets, Hadders and myself might see it as a green light to do some buying up if some one else was to make the first move.

That said if Avalon Jets was to play Siggy Jolly as a PF instead of a SF, they wouldnt need to make any purchases to be a lot more competitive

Well I don't know if it counts as buying up but I was a bit guard heavy and light on good big men so I made the following swap.

Juan Carlos Gamboa Bought bryantFTW444 10/7/2011 $ 1 000 000
Kent Masters Sold Cody Lakers 10/4/2011 $ 1 020 000

I sold a $30,000 SG that I had drafted and trained myself and bought a $140,000 C. It hurt a lot to let Kent go but it was for the good of the team, I had fine guards but was lacking in big men. Funny looking at my finals team, I don't change my players that often but my starters were:

PG: Vallo - now rarely used backup
SG: Oliver - still my backup SG
SF: Rober - now retired.
PF: Juan Carlos Gamboa now retired.
C: Sherwin - now 34 and long gone.

But I did have two backup players Barton and Kumar who are now my starting backcourt. So in total four players from that team remain five seasons later.

I had the best record in the league when I promoted (20-2) and I only bought 1 player to prevent others from thinking about buying up. (5961408)

On the other hand you bought 3 players when you had the 5th best record (15-7) in the entire league (3rd in your conference). (9366953)(9533170)(8132205)

I think it's a big difference, so please don't put me in the same shoes. ;)

I may have finished with the 5th best record in the league but at the time of buying up my players i was either 6th or 7th in my own conference.

I hope that I didnt create the illussion that you had done exactly what I had done, but I guess even yours and Yodas own examples raises the question as to what the definition for buying up is.

With regards to Yodas stability of his teams roster.

I dont think that I could ever be considered a day trader but I am somewhat embarrassed that the longest serving current player on my roster is Ryder whom I drafted as an 18 yo in season 20.

To my defence in the past I have had many long serving players

Yoda and Mllama have at times expressed despair at the lack of quality Aussie trainees up for sale and how expensive they are.

Without knowing the skills its hard to judge but on face value Northcote Slammers may have got one of the best buys of the season

Bernie Perman (27605667)

18yo Australian, 196 cm tall (just about perfect for a small forward) and with MVP potential and a salary of $4031 per week

A mere $400 K

Where were you Yoda and or what was wrong with Perman?

can i tempt you with either issak or cunming good sir?

Well ofcourse both of those 2 players might be of interest, but again I live with the shame of crushing Beechys sole and would be more content to let someone else start any "potential buying up war"

I just come across your press release concerning your triumph in last years tournament which I might add was one hell of a grand achievement

The rest of the competition was...how would you say...a joke. URM casually kicked aside Hopelessly Addicted

Just a reminder I was in China at the time and had trouble accessing the players transfer market at that particular time

Lucky for you I guess
