Same here. Lol I would actually be 1st in the Great 8 rather than 6th in Big 8. So if the season ended today I would get 6th last pick & get relegated lol. The last 2 weeks will be fun :D

well you can keep your 6th spot, as i would rather not come up against TL or All-Sorts, unless they both have a desire to relegate.

If I made the ABBL and was likely to get smashed, I may consider going a full tank and then perhaps I would put money into the draft. Other than that, I really can't see myself doing it.

Yeah that sounds reasonable, I've never really broken it down like that before. You can have a ball for your efforts there haha ;)

Does anyone know how the draft order is determined? Is it done strictly on record regardless of conference, or does it alternate by conference?

e.g...

If the bottom 4 was like this:

Blue

7. Team A 9-13
8. Team B 4-18

Red

7. Team C 3-19
8. Team D 1-21

Would the draft ranking be...

1. Team D
2. Team B
3. Team C
4. Team A

or

1. Team D
2. Team C
3. Team B
4. Team A

@ matt - i think it is the second option. done on record. at least that is what i have been going by.

hooray! converted! haha. actually the draft is funny, last season i didnt spend any points, drafted 3 absolute nobs, but have kept two of them, because their salaries are so low, they make great scrimmage fodder. saved me from buying them aye! I wonder what this is doing for my merchandise, keeping two draftee's? hmmm.

anwyays, in answer to your question, basically everybody from the league is ranked according to number of wins. The team with the lowest number gets first pick, and then next and then next.
basically the second list in ur post.
So based on the current league rankings, (so as of 24/7th, before the agme today) - the draft order would be.

1 - TL (1)
2 - All-sorts (1)
3 - Northcote (1)
4 - PP Hustlers (1)
5 - hadders (1)
6 - South Gisborne (1)
7 - Ranga's (2)
8 - Tantrums (1)
9 - Vioss (1)
10 - Teamakuma (1)
11 - Windies (1)
12 - Moosies (2)
13 - Vipers (2)
14 - Jets (1)
15 - CL (4)
16 - Snuffies (3)

Ive put in brackets what preference that POSITION got last season ie: not the team, the position who drafted 1st, 2nd etc.
So goes to show, last season, even if you spent 10 points on the Scouting combine, ordered your draftee's by age and then height preference, you would at worst, get a tallish/shortish 18 year old,

That's not entirely correct because a high percentage of those ppl listed probably did not even look at the draft let alone change their draft list. Therefore if everyone put money into scouting and followed that process, you would probably find the average of ppl getting their no.1 pick reduced.

And on a side note I have done the same, keeping all 3 of my nobs purely for their low salaries, youth and nationality (for mechandise). One of them was actually half ok, except he was a 6'5", C with no inside skills.

After I defeat All Sorts tonight, I will be in 7th. I would recommend that 6th place drops to 7th or climbs to 5th as I do not intend on demoting this season (probably will next season though).

EDIT:
I hope I beat All Sorts tonight, otherwise I have to buy up earlier than hoped.

Its not entreily correct no. But how many times does an entire league or even half a league scout lots in the draft? I think a previous post I said in the past 5 seasons the worst preference that someone got in the first round was their 7th preference? Something like that.
