Ah I see your stance, you just want everyone to be quiet managers, you don't want new teams to get pumped about their future/hopes. I just think your forgetting the social factors of the game, theres press releases, nation team forums, league forums for a reason. Of course most teams arent ready to compete at the next level, thats why they have to plan and act with a plan appropriately.

And I soundly disagree completely with your thought process.

Yeah, I should have explained a bit more.

You made a blanket statement that I thought was silly...but it wasn't fair to me respond with my own vague one-liner.

When you said:
If you're not planning/hoping to get into NBBA then you're playing the game wrong.

I said:
I disagree completely...

To elaborate a bit, I think that there is room within the game for people with lots of goals...but I was primarily thinking of people who train players for the NT. Some of them never intend to get to the NBBA and countries who have lots of players like this inevitably succeed on the National stage. I don't think they are playing the game wrong?

I should have stated my opinion as how I feel on the subject. To me someone whose only goal is to train an U21 player and/or NTer is just not playing the game to its best. Of course the game is not only limited to getting to the NBBA, but you can still focus on things like the Cup, National Team while trying to advance through the leagues.

To more so clearly state my opinion on the topic I'd rather put it as this: If you're not trying to advance through your league and win games when you need to/its beneficial towards you, then you're not playing the game right in the way I view it.

then you're not playing the game right in the way I view it.

Exactly. It is how you view it. For me, if you are enjoying what you get from BB, then you are playing it right...regardless of what you are trying to do.

If everyone played the game the way you suggest, you would find it harder to promote and your options would be more constricting. I don't think it would be as enjoyable to play as you imagine.

My view is I play it for the competition. I am a coach by trade and being able to manage a team is a fun thing to do even though it can come with frustrations! lol. I have never once thought in my head, "I can't wait to get to the NBBA!" Am I playing the game wrong? I don't think so. I like winning and I feel like I've been competitive making the playoffs in D3 the last 3 years. My goal is to figure out how to create a team to get to the next level, but if I don't I'm okay as it's fun to play anyway. Lately I've been paying more attention to the NT and U21 teams for fun. I have a prospect that is very borderline for next year's U21 team. It's been fun training him even if he doesn't quite make it. There are so many aspects to the game and so many things to strategize that I feel like I will play this game for a long time regardless if I make the NBBA or not.

Good post Stauder. I am not aware of anyone ever winning games or promoting or making it to NBBA based on claims announced to the general public. As far as I am aware the only way to get to the NBBA is to manage your team well. Bold claims dont factor in.

I would actually love for BB to be this way, the more competition the better, are you seriously telling me you just want an easy way to the top? Playing teams just training a NT player, bot teams, teams that don't know what they're doing? No, of course I want to be in the top league eventually, but guess what, I'm enjoying my way to the top and still going to enjoy it. I enjoy competition, the more competitive BB becomes the more enjoyable it becomes for me.

I agree, and I guess that's what I was saying, just far less eloquently. My short term goal is to build my prospects, maybe get one into U21 team, get to DIV in the next two seasons and develop my arena. Those are all things I can control. When I move up I have no idea how stiff the competition will be... I could end up in a league with a handful of former DIII teams that had a run of bad luck or with teams locked and loaded for a run... or I could be in another boring league with only me and maybe some other person being relatively active. And in that case, at least I'll get a good draft pick out of the situation. So no matter what really happens there are enjoy parts of the game. I just know thinking that I can make it from where I am to the top in 6 or 7 seasons is a little far fetched... but if I get the chance I going at it full speed.
