You shouldn't just train 4 skills on a C. Secondaries are important too.

I know, I just meant for training primaries, C's only have 4 to worry about. Guards have 6 primaries, and to be honest, secondaries are probably more important on guards anyway. And I know secondaries are important for all players, I just mean that for C's, it's much less important if they have a respectable JS than for a guard to have a respectable IS.

So I just got my team yesterday and I'm looking for some short term draft advice. Do I use 10 points for the combine or just scout the top guys individually? Or is it so late to get info that I'm just gonna have to randomly pick a guy? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Considering your team will get the 2nd overall pick, ild suggest you do a group demonstration (if you can afford it) and go for the highest rated stars. Who knows, you might get lucky and get a decent potential.

Thats assuming you dont have many points.

I will pick 15th and i am aiming for this guy. I doubt many people in my league spend a lot of points for draft and even if they do, i dont think any of them would go for the low numbers. I have another guy with 5/4 and both of them are in the last 3rd of the list.
so fingers are crossed = ))

Well your thinking is hopeful but that isn't really the case because all the draft orders are random. For instance player 42 for you could be player 7 for someone else in your league because it just scrambles all the draftees randomly for each team.

But aren't players 1-8 (roughly) going to show up initially as 5-ball, etc.?

What you're saying is that none of the scouts have any of the initial information right, and a guy could be anywhere from 1 to 5 initially and it's all randomized. So that makes scouting a total shot in the dark, doesn't it?

I was at least basing my approach on the idea that 5-ball guys initially were more likely to end up really being 5-ball players when scouted. Is that false? Do I have just as much chance of finding a good draftee by picking from the 1-ball and 2-ball guys initially?

Yes. The 5 ball potential hall of famer with a 5k starting salary can be anywhere on the list. Same goes for the 2/2 scrub that no one wants. The grey balls mean nothing.

Yeah the grey balls pretty much mean nothing. 5 balls can be anywhere in the draft. Sometimes making the group demonstration worthwhile.
