If the draft is really such a big issue, we should get rid of it as soon as we merge countries.

Under the current regime it makes much more sense to introduce youth squads anyways. At least from a real life comparsion it makes no sense to have a draft in leagues with vertical movement. Why would the next LeBron be drafted in a DIV IV AND be willing to play little leagues for the majority of his life?

What they do is form equal league (region) sizes and make a closed economic system for every league (region). Own transfer market, etc.

That would be the worst possible solution, we have too few players in the market right now, and segregating communities of ~1k users, would only aggrevate the problems.

Can you please explain to me why? If you fill all the region's with active managers to have in the end 5 DIVs and let them have their own eco system....where is the problem? You will have enough competition because you will have 5 DIVs. Money flow will also stay in the league so nobody can complain that all the good players are taking from other countries and prices are too high....NT teams will benefit because it is not so easy anymore to buy finished developed players...so you have to build your own....
I don't see the downside....the only thing i see is if somebody from Europe wants to have players from America...if they are not in the same region....this will not be possible anymore

you have been in your countries top division every single season...wtf are you talking about dude you get the most money possible in the game and you dont even have to field a team to get it, how is this not an advantage?

I'm playing from season 4 and not everything was a bed of roses.

Merging nations is not a good idea, nice in principle not in practice. I've said it elsewhere and I will add it here, the thinking here is backwards, we should not be consolidating small countries but breaking up the big countries where a true small elite group holds much greater sway and where upward mobility is most hamstrung.

Being a bit late to this thread I have skimmed a few pages of it and the general opinion is that most people don't want to lose their national identity but would like to see national teams compete more. I proposed something at the start of Utopia that had a small discussion in the suggestion forums ((258150.1)). The outline of the argument was this:

1) Scrap Utopia as a nationality and make the draftees come from real nations. They all get random names and I'm assuming the names will be linked to certain nationalities so why not assign them to that country.

2) Seed the draftees so that more come from low ranked nations to help the smaller countries have a chance. For example 1/6 are from the top 30, 2/6 are from 31 to 60 and 3/6 from the rest.

This will solve two problems; the lack of competitiveness of micro-nation national teams and the fact no one cares about Utopian draftees. For the lack of competitve leagues in micro-nations they would still have B3, private leagues and Utopia to keep them busy. In the Scottish league there are only about 4 teams that can actually compete with each other so the matches become a more personal affair and I enjoy it a lot.

I said that if a merge were to happen, that option would seem logical.

But I'm still against the idea of merge because I think Iran should not be included. While I say that a common league seems reasonable, I prefer things to stay untouched and to play with managers from Iran strictly.

Most of the managers from Iran that I talk to feel the same way and think we should remain as we are.

Someone mentioned youth squad or a draft for each country's users.

I don't how the youth squad would work, but seems interesting overall. But I don't think that drafts should be eliminated. It can use some tweaking though.

The idea of each country having it's own draft would work overall, but as long as the system guarantees some high potential players each season. As the manager of Iran U21 (I've been the manager for 5 season now), I go through all the drafts we get each season and I see many of our high potential players go to bot teams. We had like 2 HOFs this season, one of which had 39 TSP !!! So it was basically a bunch of 1 skills in a HOF package

I won't elaborate on that, I saw this happen in another (now out of business) game - it won't work here either.

Simply too much posting for me to finish reading all, so pardon me if I repeat what have been mentioned before.

Personally I am not in favor of micro-nation/merger but everyone will have their own views and you won't be able to satisfy everyone. Why not let each nation vote if they want a merger or not. Then for countries who want merger.. you can group them accordingly to language, culture and region. For countries which prefer to maintain their own nation, they can be left alone, status quo..
