Match day #6 7/20/10

Big 8

Marietta Magic @ E.C. High-Flyers. It’s hard to tell if Flyers were trying to be creative, or just throwing the game. They had big man Leo Woods playing 48 minutes at sg, and put less effort into the match. Magic duo Ryan and Mannu are becoming a frightening sight for opponents. Magic 98-84. Sean Ryan doesn’t seem to mind that the spotlight is on him less.

Cleveland Crazys @ San Diego Crusaders. The Crazys were too skilled for the Crusaders and won despite taking the game easy, 89-59. Hershel Barry was a monster this game, just ask Lluis Gassol who was matched up with him. Gassol couldn’t score, and was held to just 4 assists, in addition to not being able to guard Barry. Barry was seen flexing his muscles for the crowd after the game.

Tachenko @ Champaign. What would normally be one of the most competitive games this day, turned into a one sided affair. Tachenko were short handed due to injuries, and couldn’t keep their undefeated record. Champaign 108-82. Tachenko had a feeling they wouldn’t be able to remain undefeated all season, but ending it this early was a little disheartening for the squad.

Red Terrors @ TDX Dutchmen. The backcourt of Dutchmen picked the Terrors apart, and the Terrors fought from behind all game. Turnovers were also a huge problem for them. Dutchmen 96-82. In an interview with Donny Hutson after the game, he had the whole press room laughing with his “eye of the Jew” jokes.

Great 8

No Potential @ 1Derz Bangerz. Carlos Xiong thrived in the look inside offense for the Bangerz. He was able to seemingly score at will, and created tons of opportunities for his big men. No Potential on the other hand couldn’t keep up and resorted to fouling. They had two centers foul out. Bangerz 108-89.

Chicago Goats @ Indiana Gavno. Candia and Partridge did not go easy on the shorthanded Gavno. They combined for 40 pts, and 48 rbs. The entire Goats team played with high energy and more effort than the out of game shape Indiana side. Goats 84-61. The question everyone is asking is when will a team that continually finished in the top 2, become that team again.

Roxas City Red Claws @ Prov City Investors. Despite playing with less effort, and 2-3 zone against an outside oriented attack, the PCI boys won pretty easily. They didn’t even need Carmona who came off the bench for just 16 minutes. PCI 93-78. The Red Claws are struggling as of now, but management assures that their team will be ready to give a fight at the end of the season to stay in this league.

The Illusion @ Armageddons. Defense and free throw shooting were the keys for a comprehensive Illusion win. After being an offense first team in previous season, The Illusion has discovered that the other end of the court is how you really win. Illusion 80-60. The Armageddons were frustrated with their lack of success at getting the ball in the basket, and can not wait for their next game to prove it was just a one time thing.

Nightly Notable

There wasn’t a clear winner on this day for the award. So instead there will be honorable mentions for multiple players. These players are Beavers and Xiong from the 1Derz Bangerz, and Candia and Partridge from the Chicago Goats, and Ryan and Mannu from the Marietta Magic. Each of these duo’s are deserving of the award, but none of them truly stood out above the rest.

Wow... A Div 5 Team next in CUP. However, 2 weeks in a row with no pops is not a good wake-up call for Friday morning in the office!

I will gladly trade you my 2 pops today if you can get me 1 more healthy player.

I'm so looking forward to my matchup between my Goats and the Magic. The flabbergastingly-God-awfully-mother-truckin'-duo of Sean Ryan and Mario Mannu has me salivating over testing the strengths of my powerful-out-of-this-world-legendary-double-trouble duo of Vernon Partridge and Francisco Candia.

Hopefully, I can get my guys ready for the matchup because I fully expect the Magic to bring their A-game.

Partridge is alright, he'll hold his own against Ryan because he was raised on corn-fed American beef. Candia is soft, like an Andalusian sunset. Mannu will eat his lunch.

watch out an Andalusian sunset can still burns you if you don't use sunscreen
