One might make the point that your examples are of course relevant and accurate for the absolute upper crust competitors, and certainly those additional levels in that skill may be simply impossible to reconcile for teams carrying top end players with top end salaries. But the "small" numbers are likely much more relevant to a lot of the people who may be reading the threads and the vast majority of the people who have teams in this game.

you are dealing with small numbers. Try this-
15 JS/JR/OD/DR 10 PA
74k
(this with 1 in 4 inside skills)
now jack the RB up to 7
107k

Ok then bring it on to higher numbers, i believe such a team have at least a 15/15/15 (ID, Reb, IS) Center i use a relativ low 8 in blocking which comes mostly automatic with that training. Which means 105k salary(which is quite cheap for teams with 75k guards). For those salary increase of 28k you can get 2 Rebounding.(for the guard it was just 30k)

So it is much closer to 3:1 which is imho an fair exchange rate, but that depends on everybody point of view.

Since i hate playing with SG, and always prefer combo who are seen as PG, where Reb is cheaper, you can get a all 15 guard, for 100k which raises his salaryaround 20k for the 6 extra rebs. Which give at least for me, a positiv exchange rate*.

Edit: *Since the tab was still open, you get 8 rebounding for 30k there on a much superior guard compared to the C in my eyes. So four skills instead of one.

"Rebounding: Center and power forward weighted heavily, small forward somewhat heavily, both guards medium."

I'd rather get 1 expensive pop on the heavily weighted players than 5 pops on the medium weighted players.

Then it's up to the managers and the tactics they use I guess.

I could also bring back the "why have a 15IS center when you play run and gun". You need low skills somewhere and balance your players: then they can bring your team what it needs most without asking for unbelievable wages.

i think this theory works just on offense where you can specialize, in defense it won't work. And at least i doubt it, that in a system with exponential salary raises it is a salary efficient decision to have some geniuses and some diletants.

Training wise I can't see ever recommending an RB training on a guard

nothing bad about having IS ID or SB on ur guards i think they all help & like u say they r free

but ill tell u why i recommend RE training 4 guards

its all about the timing

end of season u have no competitive games

sure u could train stamina but u can do that any week

sure u can train js or 1on1 but u can do that any time mins screw up for normal training (last 2 weks in a row grrr)

but why not once a season do something difficult & train inside?

if u only have 2 trainees sure do IS ID or SB

but i always have 3 so want a 2 pos training...RE

also means i can put 1 big man in as well and maybe boost a sublevel somewhere

i have done it 1 time/season most seasons since ~ s12 & love it

i always like to have 1 scoring c so i can vary it a bit & play patient or surprise peeps occasionally with a li/lp

but agree i mostly have bigs with IS MUCH lower than their ID/RE & it saves a fortune every week & makes others constantly underestimate them

50k big man? must be crap lets LI him...lol he couldn't throw a rock in the ocean but could shut down wilt

Where do you find those guys? I was looking for a defensive C like two full seasons and could not find a decent one... :(
