adding to what koperboy said, make sure they have good OD to start with (if guard: 6 or 7 is a good start) and if you want a pure PG then 6/7 PA would be great for a start. If you want a big, then something like this will be good:

IS: 5-7
ID: 6-7
REB: 4-5 (it raises salary)
SB: 5+ ( I like SB)

and if you look t the height here is my criteria for positions and height

PG: 6'1'' and lower, the smaller the better
SG: 6'2''-6'4'' want them to score, that's why it's shooting guard
SF: (out-side oriented) 6'5''-6'6'' (if you want an outside SF with some good-decent inside skills, this height is the way to go.
SF: (inside oriented) 6'7''-6'8'' if you want a post player that can go inside, but have decent outside skills, like let's sa 10-11 OD then here is the right place.
PF: 6'8''-6'11'' tall guys but I've seen PFs have a little JS/OD on them, but not like a SF, more like 8-10 JS and 8 OD is a PF with about p. allstar po. as an average.
C: 6'10''+ the taller the better+faster inside skills will pop.

well this is mycriteria when looking to buy a trainee (in the future)

if a BIG: I'm training 2 bigs right now, but IF I want a third one then I like to see my fav skills around 6-7. if you want a guy who actually has nice secondaries (like me I like HA, PA, DR, and OD on my bigs a lil) then go for him. If he has good potential but cheap, go for him. I literally stole a superstar trainee for 50k when he's supposed to go for at least 150k. right now if I ever wanted to sell him he would go for 350-400k.

if a guard: almost same criteria, but have a little preferance. Guards tend to have some weak links sometimes, like I've seen some guards when I cruise around the TL with an atrocious in something. only skill I think you want atrocious on a rookie guard is JR. You want a guard that'll do good in your future. I've heard that some people love to train guards cause a lot of them keep them, and guards these days don't come cheap......let me explain....

In this game, it has become a BIG league where bigs control the game, making LI pretty popular, and no tactic can stop it. with those guards if you even want an oldie, they go for 300+k on the TL. I was lucky to even find catandil for 150k....so train guards is my advice.....anywyas sorry for the long post but hope this helps

No problem if you wanted to make a bit of profit off of him, that's always a good thing. You have to decide though if you want to train for profit or for your team.

Until end of next season, try to upgrade your arena to at least 6.5-7k seats, of those mostly bleachers.

I think you're overthinking yourself here. Basically, if a player is only ever going to be trained in outside skills, you want him as short as possible (and probably 6'4 or 6'5 as a maximum height). If he's only ever going to be trained in inside skills, you want him as tall as possible (maybe 6'8 or 6'9 minimum height, and hopefully he's already got decent handling/passing/OD). If he's going to be trained in both, you want a medium height guy if you're training both relatively equally, with maybe some adjustment taller or shorter if you're focusing more on one type of training.

But the whole 6'2-6'4 for SGs, no, not so much. If you took a 6'4 guy and his 6'0 clone, trained them both identically as a shooting guard, the 6'0 guy would end up better.

That's true, but somebody would maybe train a bit of IS and ID on his SG and 6'4 is better than 6'0...if however you are sure you won't have any interior training for your SG, then of course the shorter, the better.

Exactly, although even then in that scenario I suppose one would need to calculate how much inside training they'll be doing and how the height difference will slow down the outside training. Or better yet, just have the guys wear platform shoes when training inside.

Good work. Just be sure that if you promote, you invest most of all of promotion bonus (200k) into Arena and also up ticket prices (bleachers 15).

There's nothing wrong if you spend at least 3 seasons in D.IV. You can upgrade your arena to at least 12-13k seats in the mentime and prepare your rookies for D.III.

If you will be training guards, you can buy veteran centers or viceversa. Veteran inside players are cheaper than veteran guards, so most people prefer training guards. Guards are also more valuable on TL, though I predict that in 3-4 seasons, inside players with good secondaries will become the most sought-after players next to small forwards.
