I agree with one of your point which is rehash/rethink how the defense work..

or if thats too much work, they can easily decrease the amount of penalty..

That is just how the in game team ratings work.

High passing SF - PF - C can have a huge impact on the game especially if your playing against weak OD players.

multi-demintional players can have a huge impact on the game and how they impacted the game will not be indicated in the team ratings.

Use the in game team ratings as a guide but dont put 100% faith in them.

SB can be huge if you have a weaker RB team than your opponent. It can prevent those offense RB turning into easy second chance points.

What i am going to do is build bigs with lower RB and higher SB and that should give me a very affordable player.
