I'd go the NT route. Mergers are years away from now and maybe won't happen, so...

Hey

Maybe I can help you out a little bit here, since I am that only one team who has played an outside tactic in B3 Knockout so far.

In my case, I only have one player with good JR, but everyone in my S5 has pretty decent JR, even at the C position. But as far as I've learned, there are many factors that have an influence on how the game goes and who takes which shot. It's not just JR of your two guards, but it's also their DR, PA and HA as well as other players DR, PA and HA. Of course the opponents team players are also taken into consideration. Therefore it's difficult to tell anything just based on the team stats, because some skills are not really taken into team stats and yet they still matter. (i.e. my SG has good rebounding, the team stats don't really improve because of that, but he still gets lots of Rebounds, sometimes even as much as my big guys. Of course the big guys get a few rebounds less in the end because of that, but it's still worth it).

All in all I would say, that the difference between inside and outside are not that big anymore, but the skills of your players (of all 5!!!) need to be in a good relation to each other.

The overall shooting is really a bit low though (inside and outside). But I guess that's just because everyone trains ID and OD. In RL you have some bad defenders, just because they are not that talented there. In BB you don't have players with OD let's say 7-10, because it's just a killer. You can't have someone who is offensively that good to make up a bad defence, that's the difference.

Where I absolutely 100% agree is the fact with the contested vs free shots. I'd have rather my C take a contested shot then my SG a free one, which is completely unrealistic and utter nonsense.

But after all I'd say that outside tactics have gotten more interesting again in the last 2-3 seasons, as long as you are tactically flexible and not bound to always play outside. I'd still rather always play inside than always play outside, but being tactically flexible is a plus again (which was not the case 5 seasons ago).

1 Guards overall are at a huge disadvantage for shooting. My best shooter this season was 50% for a C in Utopia...not really a good shooter even. Its silly, best way to shoot well is to play PF or C. Or SF/PF in 1on1 training for LI LOL. Or wait...play C for IS training for LI and run a patient that forces unrealistic mismatch...

The reason I think why the C has the highest FG % is because he is taking more inside shots, making his percentage higher than the outside shooters. This is the same in real life, as centers who play inside have really high percentages.

I think alot of it is relative to the OD you are facing. If your big has 10 JS against 5 OD thats a huge advantage. Difference between guards js/jr and od is usually much shorter.

Absolutely. And this applies to jump shots too, although I think big men tend to hit a decent percentage on their open jump shots relative to what a guard would (which may just be selective memory).

I kind of am at the point of hoping my guards take contested threes rather than open ones, too. I'm going to have to go through and run stats at some point, but I think I'm actually seeing them shoot better now on contested threes vs. open ones. I need to get my trainees' defense sorted out in the next few seasons so I can start playing at a more competitive level to have any really relevant info, though.

You know DeAndre gets 4 time as much as crawford. In BB Crawford would make 10 times what Deandre makes.

This isn't really a fair comparison. Deandre is in his prime and considered one of the best defenders in the NBA. Crawford is 36 and while he's a great scorer off the bench, he's definitely not among the NBA's best scorers. Also, if we were to convert these guys to BB players, there is no way a 36yo guard who's only elite skills would be driving and handling makes more than a C who probably has 18-20 on each of ID, SB and RB. In fact in BB, I'm pretty sure Deandre would make 10 times more than Crawford.

Guys in NBA who can't defend make Jamal Crawford money and come off the bench.

That is unless they can score at an elite level. In the NBA, there are guys like Curry and Durant, both of whom are merely above average defenders. We all now that they're next contracts are going to be massive. Kevin Love is a mediocre defender, but he makes max money. James Harden's a terrible defender, but he already makes good money and is going to sign for even higher when his next contract comes around. Elite scorers in the NBA will make great money even if they're not good defenders. On the other hand, elite lock down defenders, especially guards, with limited offensive abilities (ie Bruce Bowen, Tony Allen) usually don't make alot of money.
