Anthony and Stoudemire at the Knicks is interesting (whether they play well together is another story).

Anthony and Stoudemire have been at the Knicks this whole past season. Anthony has had some injuries and Stoudemire lost his brother so they both had time off-court.

and they both played by far their best when the other one wasn't around and really the team was at it's most exciting when neither was playing. Both are obviously great offensive talents but one way players who are ball hogs and demotivate their team mates just aren't what I would like to build a team around even if they are top 20 scorers in the entire NBA.

Tyson Chandler, Landry Fields, Jeremy Lin and Iman Shumpert. There is an exciting (and VERY cheap) core I would love to see them build around. Just imagine they could somehow turn Anthony and Stoudemire into Dwight Howard, how would that team be? Trouble is the other GMs know about Anthony and Stoudemire and they are very hard to move as well as it would be very hard to admit they got it wrong.

'cept Fields is signing with the raptors and Lin with the Rockets unless the knicks match both offers (both are RFA's)

I would match both in a second, then trade those other two expensive duds for basically anyone with an expiring contract or just someone that plays defence and a team game. Don't get me wrong I think both Fields and Lin have a cieling but that dream run showed glimpses of a fantastic future the Knicks could have if they could just lose thoseThomasesque contracts of Amare and Melo.

Yeah I know, what I meant was it was an interesting prospect to see them go to the Knicks.

The Knicks chased hard after Anotheny and Stoudemire, they're hardly going to trade them away now. They knew what they were like defensively (i.e. they don't play any) when they signed them, so I'm guessing they were prepared to live with that.

My guess is that they will definitely match the offer for Lin. Not sure about the offer for Fields, probably depends on how much money they have to play with.

Agree with Dwight at the Nets, I'm just a little sick of seeing 3 superstars all go and play together. From a competition standpoint, it's the least interesting of all the possible options.

The Celtics did it, then the Lakers added Gasol (with Bynum already there) and have now added Nash, the Knicks tried it (they also wanted Lebron), the Heat obviosuly did it and now the Nets are trying it. There just seems to be too much of a gap between the top 4 or 5 teams and the rest, due in part to teams trying to create super teams to compete. The ironic thing is, the Thunder took the opposite route, developed their darft picks instead and built a team that way - and they've made it to Finals already.

I guess I'd just like to see the superstars spead over more teams, and seeing how they go playing against each other, rather than teaming up. It just seems this would make for a much more interesting competition.

I think I might've gone a little off-topic here. :p

I agree with everything you have said but the mistake the Knicks made was you can maybe afford one superscorer who doesn't play defence but why would you want two?

The Thunder did take the opposite route but building though the draft requires a ton of luck. What if they ended up with Greg Oden instead? Both Westbrooke and Harden turned out better much faster than expected. Even Chicago got massive luck when they got the top pick and took Rose. As for Charlotte, they show you that you can try to build the "right way" through the draft but if your picks aren't the best then you get nothing.

As Stephen A Smith would say, "Kwaaaaameeeeeeeee Brown".

its a bit of luck involved really..

bobcats took emeka over dwight... cos okafor was more established then howard at the time. they chose a proven college rookie over a high schooler... look how that turned out.

and new york tried to plug the defensive incapabilities of carmleo and amare with tyson chandler LOL little do they know that its team defense that wins championships, not individual defense.

still dont get why these athletic scorers are so good when it comes to offense but sooo lazy when it comes to defense... cos being athletic also heaps a tonne in defense too... look at wade and james... they are always active in defense too..

Everyone see the USA basketball team announcement?

Team is looking undersized... No Bosh, Howard or any 6'11+ players. There was even talk of putting melo at PF and LeBron at C for a few games. I guess they're pretty versatile but it will be a struggle for them against the teams with a lot of inside presence.

The team does not look undersized with Griffin, Tyson Chandler and Love in the team.

PG CP3, Deron, Westbrook
SG Kobe, Harden
SF Durant, AI2, Carmelo
PF Lebron, Griffin
C Chandler, Love

That is completely stacked!

The closest team is maybe Spain.
But Spain will give team USA a good run for its money.
this will most likely be Spain's starting five or main players...

PG jose calderon
SG navarro
SF rudy fernandez
PF Pau Gasol
C Marc Gasol

bench: Ibaka, sergio rodriguez
