what's the benefit of leaving trainee starter positions blank?

Happy to help!

So my training strategy with 3 Centers that I will train on ID or IS every week (all should play 48min as a C each week) isn't bad then? My trainees are not the best but I plan to sell (one of) them if I am lucky with the draft and get another good trainee

Yes I believe doing IS/ID to start with is a common strategy, possibly until they reach around 12-15 in those skills. That will probably take a couple of seasons so by then you should have a better understanding of training and what you want to do with your players next.

So for the next draft I should probably not spend a single scouting point, draft randomly and keep points for future drafts? Or is it still worth it to spend 10points to find a few good prospects (as I'm in league 4 the other teams in my league wouldn't spend too much on the draft I guess)?

That's what I've always done - either spend 50-70 points or nothing. It is possible to spend less than that and find a nice draftee. However it is risky as if you start with say 30 points you can run out of points without finding anything. If you spend 50+ then the likely worst case is you should find a couple of ok prospects that will sell for something. And anything less than 30 points seems very unlikely as you'd only be able to scout a few of the many players in the draft.

You're also unlikely to find anyone randomly of course, but at least your cost is zero so anyone you find is a bonus.

For now I only spend money on my arena + 2 drafts points week on top of salaries

Sounds good!

Thanks for the precisions

Is it really worth it to spend 300K+ worth of points on a single draft? How much can you expect from the sale of the best prospects? Even if I guess that the best way to take profit of very good prospects is to keep and train them

I've never bought a top draftee, but I believe the best 18 year old HOF potential guys go for $1m+.

Of course you might not get that lucky (I haven't drafted a HOF in three draft attempts), but a top MVP guy could put you in profit, and other superstar/MVP guys can make you some money back. Some perennial-allstar players have value as well.

You are right though, it's not necessarily a money maker and you can find good trainees on the transfer list. Often people draft to be able to train a homegrown player to a high level and benefit from the higher merchandise they provide.

not sure how it works exactlly.
But I noticed myself since using it, and I heard it multiple times in the forums, that if they set the lineups with the trainee starter positions blank that they than get full 48 minutes of training every time, even for managers who only got like 43 often before.

ok, thanks!

I have another question:

I played one of my trainee as starter back up and reservist for him to play 48min but he only played 36 min (he didn't play last quarter), how is that possible and how can I avoid it? I even selected " follow the order" for the coach. I checked the game and he wasn't injured either. And I was winning the game
I don't know what else I can do to ensure that my trainees play 48min

Leave the starter blank, like this:

(Blank) - Trainee 1 - Trainee 1

Ah ok so I shouldn't select my other C/PF for the game then? Only players that I play as starter, subsitute or reservist?

Thanks
