If only the BBs would let us change our rookie names without needing to win some comp with chances like 1 in 50k.

After spending several hundred thousand dollers on scouting this season I am bemused as to the draft picks that I received.

Some of my $40,000 per week went to investing in a group demonstration which I was under the impression highlighted all the players who had 1 or 2 ball potential.

The first 23 players I nominated did not show in the group demonstration so hence I assumed all would have had a potential greater than 1 or 2 ball.

Why did it occur that with my first pick being either the 3rd or 4th pick of the draft, the 3 draftees I ended up with were; "6th man" a "bench warmer" and a "starter"?

I am confused

I'm not sure what happened with your draft and sorry you didn't get anyone you liked out of your draft Sid. Just so i've got it clear though, you did make the 5 ball players your priority and put all the 1 and 2 ball players at the very bottom of your list?

Hi Dire thanks for the Bmail and commisserations to you on the demotion (I meant not winning the finals serious- It was my team that got demoted)

With regards to the draft I think I may have misunderstood what a "group demonstration" communicated.

The first 23 picks that I chose in the draft, did not appear for a group demonstration.

I assumed that by not showing for a group demonstration that it meant that a player had a potential higher than (1 or) 2 ball potential.

Obviously based on the fact that I got a "6th man" a "bench warmer" and a "starter", a group demonstration does not highlight by default those who do not attend, as being above a 2 ball potential.

Im curious as to what the attendance or non attendance to a Group Demonstration does prove?

From the manual:

Group Demonstration: In order to help get their names out there, all of the players your scout estimated to be 1-ball or 2-ball prospects have offered to arrange a demonstration of their skills. This option is equivalent to scouting each of these players once, though it will not provide any additional information for players you have already scouted.

So basically, it should just be a way to scout all of the lower potential players instead of having to waste a point on each one.

Before you scout any players, the players are rated 1 ball to 5 ball as a very rough, indicative rating. These tend to be way off the mark from what I've seen, so I wouldn't take much notice of them.

Group demonstration scouts all the players that have a 1 or 2 ball rating on this indicative, rough scale.

In reality, whether a player is or is not selected for group demonstration tells you bugger all (and definately does not indicate potential in any way).

I think you just got unlucky in the draft. The 6th man you got was probably a 5 ball that you placed high on your list. Unlucky that he was a 2 ball potential.

Did you just spend 10 points on group demo, and 10 points on the age thing.. and done nothing else? Cos if you spent an extra 2 points you could've saw that he was a 2 ball potential and placed him at the bottom of your list.

I did the group demonstration thing as well as the scouting combine as well as scouting 13 players of which I interviewed 2.

Wish I could get all that money back

Thanks for all the feedback guys

Thats a shame then cos the two that you interviewed went to adam guns and avalon jets. =(

The draft is such a lottery, I got 3 decent 19 yr old rookies that I'm quite happy with.

No I didnt interview the ones I ended up with.

I wanted to scout as many as I could because I knew that with Avalon Jets and Adams Guns would get the best.

I figured that with scouting them and them not turning up to a group demonstration that they'd have to be a 3 baller or better.

I guess I used Dires logic, " it should just be a way to scout all of the lower potential players instead of having to waste a point on each one", in reverse in that by not turning up I deduced that they should have good potential.

Mllama might be on the money

Bugger it, can we redo the draft?
