ha...

well spotted! i think by the time i posted that somewhere before me the answer to the question was eventually covered!

i appreciate my answer is only really valid to those teams that find themselves likely to dominate a match.... I thought after about post 4 Chris wasnt going to ever come back to read the rest of the thread and i will now sign off too with the subject having been completely discussed to his satisfactions....

bye! ;-)

You have a level 10 TRAINER.

Every team in the entire BB universe has the same coach.

daryk, would you consider this an answer to my question? no offense but it seems like i'm loosing my mind here....

Wow. Had no idea what happened here (I've been at work).

As I just told you via BB-mail, I didn't thoroughly read your original post and my brain immediately switched on my Automatic Trainer/Coach Differentiator Version 1.6. When I replied here (15688.4) I actually re-read your first post and saw that I reacted without reading your whole question.

I am really quite sorry that this thread spiraled downward after that, as I was hoping you would get some additional advice from other users about their experience with different substitution patterns. That didn't happen, and I feel partly responsible.

I apologize to you, Chris, and hope you don't feel the need to stay away from the forums as you stated. As a token of goodwill, from this point forward I will try to reign in my Automatic Trainer/Coach Differentiator until I can get some of the bugs out of the software. =)

Cheers,
Daryk

boy, this is a fun thread to read...Ü i'm not implying anything... it's just that it's rare to see this number of posts in just a short span of time... giving me an idea on how to make my future threads appealing to all posters... haha!

can i use this thread for another topic which uses the same thread title?

(not off-topic anymore...)

i read from the rules that the coach rating is used in the early leagues... and some uses matchup rating (like me...) in later seasons...

does this coach rating still used today?

In American sports vernacular, a trainer is not someone who helps the coach teach skills. At best he might train stamina and conditioning, but that person is probably called a strength and conditioning coach. At the junior level, the trainer hands out towels and carries the clipboard for the coach.

Whether the Celtics win the NBA Championship is probably not resting on Ed Lacerte's shoulders.

The function that is being performed by the "trainer" would probably be called an assistant coach, especially if the head coach is someone like Doug Moe who sits in his office handicapping greyhound races while the assistant coach runs the practice.

But then it would naturally occur to people playing a game like BB that there might be something like a head coach function, someone who does a better or worse job at motivating players and making substitutions.

The use of "trainer" is kind of like the word "practice" - it doesn't mean much to people, or means something entirely different. It helped changing "practice" to "game shape". It would make sense to change "trainer" to "assistant coach".

Then when people ask about the "head coach", it can be explained that they are the head coach (and GM and President)
