Division II Team of the Week!

This week I chose GodBeard, manager of The Aristocrats(33776)! He is in his second ever season of division II.

Mod-Bballin: Your team sits in first right now. Its your 1st season in division II, whats your goal for this season?
GodBeard: My goal coming into the season was to finish 5th or better. My first stint in division II was a 1-21 nightmare (Season 16 I believe). So far this season is far exceeding my expectations, but I'm not satisfied now. Promotion is what everyone craves, and I feel as though this season may be my best shot. I wouldn't consider myself the favourite in our League by any stretch, but the timing may be right for me (I know other players have cards up their sleeves that could change everything though).

MB: What do you think has been a key reason for your quick success in division II?
GB: The key reason I'd say is focusing on defense above anything else. I have a couple scorers, but I'd say defense and my PG trainees Papayiannis and Farley (who has since been sold).

GB: YOu skipped 3 :p(Editors Note: And You capitalized the letter 'o' in the word 'you'!)

MB: Who is your favourite Canadian BB player? Your favourite current Aristocrats player? Your favourite Ever The Aristocrats player?
GB: Favourite Canadian BB player? Well, it'd probaby have to be Curtis Worley on Fundamentally Sound. It's more out of respect than anything else as he dominated me in last seasons division III finals. Favourite current Aristocrat player is Pelagios Papayiannis as I picked him up as a 19 year old and have been watching him grow ever since. Favourite Aristocrat of all-time...wow, blast from the past there! I think I'd go with Ajaikumar Sharma [player=14642168. ]He was my first ever draft pick and I sold him when I semi-ragequit. I wish I had more patience because I feel as though he could've been a Canadian NT'er, and now he's retired as a 66k salary 27 year old (he could've been better than that) :(.

MB: Whats your favourite part about BB?

GB: Favourite part would be that it takes time. I'm not a big fan of the quick success sport simulators. The fact you have to wait to be great makes it rewarding when you start to have success.

MB: What tips would you share?
GB: Tips...well, for new players I'd say the key is to get at least two high potential 18/19 year olds (easier said than done), train defense first, and avoid acquiring high salary players when you're in lower divisions. Instead, build your arena and acquire those high salary players when those 18/19 year olds turn 21/22.

MB: Any managers you would like to shine a spotlight on. Any who helped you or that you fancy?

GB: I'd like to shine light on Stajan. I'd say he'd be the manager I look up to as we started around the same time and I watched his team achieve success much quicker than I.

MB: Where have you been in the world?
GB: I've been to Mexico, Hawaii, and other random places of the U.S., but aside from that I've planted myself in Canada firmly.

GB: Thanks for the feature! I'm truely honoured, and I think having featured teams every week will only grow interest in BB among canadian teams.

Division I Team of the Week!

This week I have chosen GM-beanerz, manager of the Beanz Odyssey(24876). Currently in his 9th season in Naismith.

Mod-Bballin: Your team is right where it has been for the past few seasons, on top of the Great 8. Whats your goal for the season?
GM-beanerz: I want to win, it really is that simple. I like to win and hate to lose so my goal is to win both the Cup and the Naismith title. With RiP out of the Cup that is certainly my focus for now.

MB: What do you think has been a key reason for your continued success in Naismith?
GB: Good training and the ability to make changes when needed.

MB: You are in your second term as Canadas NT manager. How has this term been for you? What have you done differently since your last run as manager and will you run again next season?
GB: This season has been a blast. Other than the fact that I screwed up certain things in both of the last two competitive games I am really happy with the season. Getting the team into the Worlds is a real accomplishment and something that not all managers can say they did.

Next year is election time already, eh'? I am not certain whether I will run or not, what about you?(Editors Note: Hey, hey, hey, who is doing the interview here?)

MB: Who is your favourite Canadian BB player? Your favourite current Odyssey player? Your favourite Ever Odyssey player?
GB: Maja, Collins, Maja. Easy choices: Maja was my own trainee and trained into a decent player. Collins is going to be the death of my team but I like him :)

MB: Whats your favourite part about BB?
GB: Training and the community.

MB: What tips would you share?
Find something in BB you enjoy and get good at it.

MB: Any managers you would like to shine a spotlight on. Any who helped you or that you fancy?
GB:HPP and RiP both helped me a ton when I first started. And both were/are great managers and influences on the community.

MB: Where have you been in the world?
GB: It would be easier to say where I have not been. I am fortunate to have a career that allows me to see the world, 47 countries in the last 5 years and most of them multiple times. Some of my favorites are Turkey, Switzerland, New Zeland, Brazil, Germany, Morocco, Iceland, Southern Russia. Most beautiful women are Czech, most awesome wildlife is in Congo or Zimbabawa. Best buzz is of course in Holland :)

Division I Team of the Week!

Odyssey Learn What a Real Beatdown Is!

Well 19222 people made their way to the Shipwreck to watch what was supposed to be an epic 1v1 battle. It was epic, not in the way they might have wanted. The Philosopher Kings dismantled the Odyssey defense and reminded Canada why they are number 1 as they pulled off a 127-16 victory(52678972). The most bizarre part of it was the incredibly odd decision on beanerz part to only play 4 players and by no means were they his best. He could not be reached for question and was not even seen at the game.

Division II Team of the Week!

Aristocrats Dominate Strippers!
The Aristocrats have been cruising this season and this game was no exception as they once again rolled. The Aristocrat SFs absolutely crushed Strippers SFs. Going a combined 28-47 with 70 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists! They were even 11-18 from behind the arc! This led to the Aristocrats inevitable 115-53 victory(52681551).

Division III Team of the Week!

A Block Party Wins it for Rouge et Or!
On the road in a televised game against MasSoul, Morwood and his squad decided to relax with a little block party, well at least Radu Marinescu did(25386020). He finished the game with 11 points, 8 rebounds and.. wait for it... 11 blocks! You read correctly, a III.8 league record 11 blocks were recorded by the young 20 year old Romanian Center. In a performance that will not soon be forgotten. Heading into the 4th quarter Rouge et Or were down 2 points, but thanks to some clunch performances and some amazing defense they were able to sneak away with a 69-59 win(52683140).

Division I Team of the Week!

3 Wins, 3 Clinics, Happy Beanerz

The Odyssey have just completed a dominating 3 game run. Let me go through each one:

League Game - 136-30(52678979).
First off was a visit to capitolio to take on sg united. In a 1 vs 8 battle nothing was really expected besides a in for the Odyssey and the Odyssey delivered. Scoring 32-38 points in each quarter and never allowing more than 13 in a single quarter the Odyssey cruised to a commanding victory. 7 players in double digits in scoring and 3 with double doubles were the ingredients to this one.

B3 Game - 108-58(55372092)
What is typically supposed to be a tough game, was not. The Odyssey were in absolute control from the get-go. With the game meaning absolutely nothing due to previous losses, beanerz told his team to have no mercy. They took it literally fouling 17 times and allowing their opponent, Black Ravens..., to shoot 19-24 from the FT line equaling the amount of converted field goals they had(19-77).

Cup Game - 114-46(55493921)
Efficiency, that is Phil Collins middle name. No really. Its weird, someone told me about it and its totally legit. Phil Efficiency Collin is his name! I think his dad was just drunk when he signed the birth certificate. Anywhoo, Collin dominated scoring 23 points on 11-12 shooting while also grabbing 11 rebounds. He helped lead the Odyssey over The Syndicate and onto the quarterfinal of the Cup!

GodBeard Shows No Remorse For Emo Squad
GodBeard and his Aristocrats continued their defensive clinics as they marched into PETHS and came out with an 87-60 victory(52681558)! The Aristocrats once again showed that you only need one source of offense to win as their patient offense has wrecked havoc all over league II.3 this season! When asked about it GodBeard had this to say, "I learned it from the Kobe System!".

Young Guns Excel in Rouge et Or Win
In what was a huge 1 vs 3 matchup(Rouge et Or being the 3) Rouge et Or received most of their contributions from their young guns as the trio of Nolder, Di Silvestro and Marinescu combined for a total of 44 points, 29 rebounds, 4 assists and 7 blocks. Di Silvestro, a Canada U21 hopeful, received large minutes at the C spot and was delightful supporting Nolder who led the team. Marinescu, recently called up to Romania U21s team for training camp, once again had himself a game at the SF position.
