Honestly. EAK is still our number 1, even at 33 for at least another season, maybe two. I dont think we will need to worry too much on the SF issue until next term. However, at that point our younger SFs should have developed enough to be more than good enough for the big stage. If not, we have plenty of SFs that are specialized either inside or outside and a couple of balanced SFs. I will most likely be saving a spot for EAK and two SF callups throughout the season since I expect we might need an inside oriented SF or an outside oriented SF. We also have many PFs with the ability to play SF in a LI offense. Some names I can throw around: Hall, Chretien, Fairchild, Labbe, Cutler, Thomas, even Lacroix is still looking decent.

Honestly I have tried. Its difficult and requires a lot of commitment. Contests, write-ups and nagging seem to be the only way I can develop interest and even then its only temporary.

I think developing a large depth chart open to the ECU community will get people with prospects trying to improve their player, trying to get in discussions and others without prospects to get those players on the list.

Obviously having success during the season will generate interest and an Americas Championship should do the trick :)

My opinion regarding mTIEs has always been the same. I am going to do what I feel is best for the team despite what I respond. If someone offers a mTIE and I know that the team can win on +1 effort and can spare the enthusiasm. I will tell that person that I agree and I will play a normal. I will do whatever is going to benefit Canada the most. I know it may seem unethical and unsportsmanlike, but asking someone for a mTIE in the first place is the same thing. Im just returning the favour!

Since SF is position with highest possibility of mismatch, what would your ideal SF look like, lets say with 125 SP.

Canada is going to old reliable, LI/MtM after trying many times to become a team that uses different tactics. With that we need SFs that can score inside. I would even be willing to drop a couple pops in JR and add some IS to this guy. Inside SFs are crucial right now.

Also, what guard skill on a big man do you value the most (feel free to give a list 1-6)

PA/HA/JS/DR/OD/JR(1/2/3/4/5/6)

I don't want my big men shooting much, considering the goto offence will be LI. High PA and HA on big men will reduce TOs considering they will have the ball most of the game on offense. JS and DR will help to take advantage of the monoskilled donkeys and OD will help against PF type big men*. JR is definitely the least valuable as our big men will rarely be far away from the basket.

*For PFs I would move OD ahead of JS.

which inside skill do you feel is most important for guards.

If I am allowed to make a 1-4 list:
IS/REB/ID/SB(1/2/3/4)

IS is pretty much free and can turn a guard into the X-Factor in a LI offence if the other teams ID is stopping the big men. Having REB at all 5 positions can make a huge difference as REB is the only rating that is effected by all 5 positions. It is expensive on guards, but thats for a reason. ID since everyone realizes that guards have IS nowadays. SB is usueless currently, however the GE change might change that :)

Would you prefer to have shooting PG or high passing and defensive stopper?

High passing and defensive stopper. No question about it. The PGs job on the team would be to find the players to score and to stop the other teams PG from doing the same. IS on the guard is the only type of offense I would want since that can turn them into an X-Factor again :P

And how do you plan to convince managers to train multiskills (just stating that they are effective and salary efficient is not enough). Would you provide some guidelines for fully trained player on individual positions or would you just be happy with posting a post on a forum and waiting for managers with interesting players to contact you?


I think Canada has been doing great in this category for a while. We rarely get the monoskilled donkeys and if we do, they don't play. People have noticed that and have been training multiskills on all players.

I plan on keeping tabs on all prospects and making sure managers dont train players who are monoskilled both for Canadas benefit and their benefit.

This will completely depend on how quickly he starts losing his skills. Some players once they hit 33 start deteriorating quickly, others (I would argue most) deteriorate at a much slower rate. I had one player that lost 4 skill levels the first 3 weeks after he turned 33. I couldn't sell him quick enough. It's another hidden attribute that is built into each player.

What do Hall's skills look like now? I remember a few seasons back it looked like he might bet the NT SF of the future but I guess he plays almost exclusively at PF now. Most of those other SF's you named shouldn't be anywhere near a top 10 NT IMO.

With our current SF depth chart, EAK will be number 1 throughout this season, maybe two. I understand he might drop quickly, but I think he should be good to go for at least another season.

For next season we do not need SFs who are top 10 NT worthy. These SFs will usually be playing backup and against the weaker America teams. Hopefully they will progress and will be useable against tougher competition, but that is in the future. Also Chretien is a really really good outside SF last I remember :)

i am a big fun of rebounding on guards as well, but not sure if I would put it against ID. Since most of teams are playing LI now and also have guards with nice IS, isnt counting on big man to stop driving guards a bit too much?

Agree with you about PG, and just to add a bit to it, I believe that passing is another skill that is important for ALL players (not only RB). Offensive flow and passing on SF/big man is the most underrated thing in the game right now (that's why teams with crazy multiskills at SF and PF are winning at this point).

Our depth at SF is really terrible. Unless Hall had decent number of pops last season (unfortunately werent able to see his skills throughout the season) and I dont think we have any upcoming prospects at that position. Finding such player for now and for the future will be biggest challenge for new manager.

Yes, I know. I am trying to find one myself with no success. So I am training superstar (talking about potential unfortunately :D )

Basically it seems like only question in this elections is. Do we want fresh blood from respected country to come here and maybe introduce some new ideas (that everyone may or may not like), or do we want to continue with the same managers that already showed what they can achieve with Canada's NT or JNT (whether you like the results or not)

I just want to make one plea. Please do not cast your vote based on the fact that you know somebody or want to help your friend who is still unexperienced manager (if I remember correctly that happened with our NT already and disaster wasnt far). This is really only hurting Canada's community and NT teams

I wasnt talking about getting 15+ on SF in PA. with my trainee i am aiming for 12.

actually i am one of managers who loves to have versatile C. I like my PF to have higher OD,DR, and higher PS, JS on C
