I've been training SB a lot and it definitely is dependent upon the level of the oppision. Using mostly M2M this season, my center with 15SB is averaging 2.5 per game. Also, he has only allowed opponents to shoot 15% inside against him. This is in D.II. I plan to get him up to 20SB so ill let you know how much it helps my team when that time comes.

In the real life basketball, I once read a comment from Dikembe Mutombo (when he was with Sixers). When he was interviewed about low shotblocks against Milwaukee Bucks (Ray Allen, Glen Robinson, Sam Cassell), Mutombo comments was, "Bucks keeps shooting from outside, I can't block shot if they don't drive to the lane"

Yeah, I often see this defensive rotation in BB which at first i though it was a disfunctional defenses due to fatigue. However, the rotation stood as it is. Rarely shotblock happens. That's the reason i was pretty worried to put in a 17SB and he still averaging a mortal 1.5 - 2.0 bpg each season. I think I kinda regret rooting for shotblock party, but these 15-20SB shall receive a special treatment.

The importance of the shot blockers is to keep players out of the paint. If you watch a game with a high shot blocker, the team will struggle getting shots off in the paint. Even when using LI, the team will tend to shoot more jumpshots. Therefore you won't see the blocked shots like expected, but the shot blocking is doing its job making the other team take less successful shots.

Shotblocking shall have greater rating in producing shotblocks. It does affect the shooter think twice to release their shots, but this attribute shall belong more to Defense rating than SB. "Menacing" players like Dennis Rodman & Ron Artest, they are such players that are able to lower down opponent guts/confidence to shoot the ball, or make those Star players (Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan) work for their every shot.

Probably I got a player with #1 rating worldwide and guess what....shotblocking is his main skill ;) This should be worth to consider when you plan to train a center in a future.
