Just wanted to add that most people play R&G-FCP against much weaker teams, because this is the kind of combination you play if you can hit 3s at a good clip and you can run up the score before stamina is going to hurt you.
The problem with using R&G-FCP against a good team is not really stamina or not just stamina, but mostly rebounding.

Having seen a few of Gully's games this season, especially the one I lost against him:
a) FCP can hold its own again good flow although you don't get as many steals as you would otherwise. And by good flow I mean at least 15 PA in each guard spot, 14 at the SF spot and another 20 between the 2 big men (this is what I fielded). Generally higher HA. You can do your math.
b) His team typically comes back strong in the 4th quarters, which means that high enough Stamina does indeed take care of the weakness most commonly associated with FCP.


In any case there were some points made here (215971.1) although none of those guys really tried to verify their claims...

I've attempted to get noticed here but apparently its not working lol.

If you check my last two seasons' games you'll see a lot of games where I use fcp. The D2 I promoted from last season was below top class though one team in my league did have near D1 salary. I promoted with salaries 70-100k lower than my previous promotion season.

In D1 this season I've survived much more comfortably than 3 seasons ago, and with around 150k less salary. The idea that fcp doesn't work seems wrong to me. Though its of course possible I'd be winning those games with mtm.

Lemonshine's points about my games, especially the one against him are valid and worth looking at, as are my earlier posts.

So, how long would you say it took to build your team to play that style?

After messing up a scrimmage, ruining game shape, and setting myself on a course for relegation, I decided to sell my more expensive players and buy a new squad for D2. After considering it for a couple of days I decided to attempt to put together a squad to play fcp.

Since they sold on 7/7 I must have put them the first 5 players up for sale on your Independence Day. Within 5 days I'd replaced them. 4 weeks later I'd bought 3 more for the start of the season. I kept only 3 players from my D1 squad. My main player, and 2 scrubs. In D2 even the scrubs got among the steals and blocks.

During season 32 I added two more players, a starting point guard (prior to signing him my starting SF had the highest PA on my team with 13) and a backup C.

I've bought 3 players since promoting. 2 PGs and a PF who can play SF.

In essence though, the answer to your question really is, my first squad took me only about 4 weeks. And since then its just been an ongoing thing.

My current squad consists of 6 PGs, 1 SF, 5 PFs, and a C, though most of them are capable of playing multiple positions.

I apologise for the long ramble, but I felt the answer needed a bit more than just saying "4 weeks!"

Stamina doesn't take too long to train, as long as you don't have trainees. I'd just finished a cycle of training and so was able to push stamina up between seasons, and on and off ever since.

Another thing people often look at is how high a few of their players are in a particular stat. I prefer to look at it from the bottom end. You want to avoid having especially low PA for example on any player. Avoid weaknesses and you can get away with your best player not having huge PA.

My promotion last season actually came with players with less OD on my three outside starters and less PA at the high end than I'd have in my previous promotion season. To avoid TOs HA is possibly as important (or more) as PA.
