Do my eyes deceive me or did every game in the Great 8 but mine feature a Crunch Time effort

Not to mention that weird namssor-charles game. Either namssor CT'd (which seems hugely risky), or charles decided that, with his season on the line, now would be a good time to throw a game by using his first TIE in over half a season.

Makes sense to me? If Chi-Town or Nashville lost (both lower seeds in their matchup) he avoids relegation.

Obviously I CT'ed. I didn't think I had much of a chance in a relegation series so I wanted to make sure I got the win and would get a loss from ChiTown or Nashville. Looks like I might've lost if I had Normalled. A big screw you to jfarb and stogey for not helping. This Cup madness goes wayyyy too freaking long into the season, it screws with all the teams in the league in the most important games of the season. So dumb. And PD tiebreakers are awful too. Enjoy your wins.

Yeah, that makes sense. I actually thought you got a bit lucky with the cup draw, with jfarb playing stogey, since whoever lost was likely to try to win yesterday. Can't really fault jfarb with the cup final and first round PO game looming, but yeah, stogey didn't help you out.

I was talking to sharon about positioning prior to saturday. The goal was 5th, 4th place is a disappointment.

Plus 5th place gets a better draft pick! :-)

Yeah, it's too bad. When the "fixed" the old problem (that 6th was better than 5th), all they really did was shift it (so now 5th is better than 4th).

The real solution is so easy, too:
(1) No one pays salaries in the playoff weeks.
(2) Relegation games earn no income.

Salaries can be adjusted slightly upward across the board to accomodate having fewer paid weeks, but at least it lets everyone plan accordingly. And I'm can't see any situation (other than tanking for a draft pick) where you'd ever intentionally want to finish 1 spot lower, right?
