Defense being that PD isn't necessarily a fair or accurate judgement of how good or bad a team is in all circumstances. Yes the B8 is worse than the G8, thats obvious by the interconference record. But PD? Look at last season's standings, you'll notice something about my PD haha. If I had wanted to have positive PD I could have, but chose not to.
PD is based a lot on cup strategy. Early rounds you can play your B team and advance, no problem. When you get into these late round cup games PD becomes difficult to sustain. When you have a legit cup opponent that you know is going to try to beat you, you have to sacrifice PD. My last 3 cup rounds were vs NBBA teams and this week I play brian, so what happens? I had to throw 3 league games, took a 50 point loss, a 70 point loss, and a 80 point loss. Yes, if I had depth I could have dramatically reduced the damage, as SM has been able to do this season, thats my fault. But Coco even you had to take a 50 point loss a couple of weeks ago have your A team available for a Div II Cup opponent. This is why winning the cup is such a unique challenge, the random draw, neutral court, having to manage league success and GS. Also why you winning the double last season was an incredibly impressive achievement.
Other thing is, and this was an issue last season, because of the lack of depth in the B8, there is less pressure to keep winning or sustain PD. Silverbacks are a much better team than 11-7, and I would dare say that my team is a little better than 10-8 with negative PD. Reston is a perfect example of this, he sold his team because he knows that 10 wins is enough. I know I only need to win 1 game a week and I'll be fine, even if I lose 50 PD on the week. If I was in the G8, I would have to prioritize in order to stay out of danger of relegation, so I'd probably have to bow out of the cup around the all star break. In the B8 there is no pressure to do so, so the top teams underachieve.
