Creativity:
I feel like I was too conservative and didn't take as many risks with the NT as I do with my club team. This is in part due to the available player pool: I just feel like we lack any real specialists that would let me do some of the wackier things that would be appealing. We have very few pure shooters, no clear specialist SF and our big men are all fairly balanced (i.e. no legendary rebounder or inside scorer). If I ever manage to get S. Milot's JS up then I think that he, paired with the EAK that I anticipate developing, will give us the option of running a pretty interesting inside attack but that is at least eight weeks away and we lack the big men to really pound the ball inside consistently.
Our relative strength at SF/PF (when healthy) also made me impose some limitations on myself that are somewhat questionable in retrospect. I personally think that the SF and PF spots are where you can make some interesting roster choices to create mis-matches or try to really focus the team, but when TSA is healthy I think he's one of our best players so I felt reluctant to move him out to put Wendon at SF (I was also scared of who could back up Abbott) at play motion, and TSA, along with Guest, are our best inside scorers so moving him to SF and putting a centre at PF didn't make a ton of sense when it comes to inside scoring.

I am all for hearing some interesting suggestions tactically if you've got them.

Enthusiasm:
Here's another place where I really dropped the ball. I was convinced (perhaps correctly) that our only shot at qualifying for worlds was to go into the knock out round at max enthusiasm. Maybe I was right, but without going normal in some games I didn't even given us any hope at all of qualifying for the knockout round. I need to do a better, smarter job with enthusiasm this year.

Communication:
I could have been better with communication, particularly after the half way point in the season. Unfortunately, that is partially the result of simply having neither the time nor the creative energy to devote to that aspect after my partner fell ill.
HPP, Mogul and Rip all know this, but for everyone else I would just like to remind you that you can't imagine the insane amounts of inane, stupid, angry or indecipherable messages that you get as a NT manager.

Players on the way out:
Moran will not be added to the team until I can track his GS for a few weeks. There's no point on having him sitting on the bench taking up a roster spot if he sits at inept - average GS all season again.
G. Milot is likely gone as other guards have overtaken him and he's capped out (although he did somehow pop in driving this season!).

Thomas has fallen out of favour with me due to the oft mentioned rebounding/FT problems. I would like to make less use of Ed Mathews and his awful tertiary skills, but I don't know how possible that is given the existing roster options.

Some other players will be added later than expected or may miss out on making it at all due to injuries.

Players on the way in:
Mahmoud is the obvious big addition. He will likely move straight in as a starter unless Moran gets in shape. I think that if we could get both guys active then we'd have a shot at a pretty decent front line. For now it is just good to know that Blekinsop is back at backup where he's better suited.
Essa Abul-Kaleel is still at least 6-8 weeks from making his debut but I like where he's headed.
Momar Maja is going to be a best of an outside based PF but he is also probably a mid-season at best pick up.
S. Milot's owner (me) has still failed to get his JS up high enough to be useful. The easy way to explain it is that I wanted the hard one position stuff taken care of first and now he's ready to get some two position JS training. The minimum I expect of even a role playing inside PG would be sensation JS (and that's pushing it) so he won't even get a serious look until then. My end game for him is going to be Wonderous/Prolific JS/JR. I have no idea how long that'll take but he should be up to marvelous/colossal passing/OD within three weeks, so when he does get the call up he should be an interesting option.
Jerome Forest is a long shot to make it this season but he's a very well rounded PG option. Giles Beato might make it if he gets some training on his terrible outside skills. I wish we had a good SG option coming up but I don't think we really have an obvious one.
Speakerman could concievably make the team as a designated shooter, but that will require some more JS to go with his insane JR. It looks like that is his owner's current plans so we'll see how it goes.

All of that is to say that for the first six or so weeks I would expect the team to look much like it did late last season.

Going Forward:
It's almost impossible to predict wheat our consolation tournament schedule will look like right now, but our first two games (Norway and Cyprus) are super easy which should allow us to run a small roster and add players when I can see what GS looks like. Our goal is to get home court advantage for the next NT cycle.

Thoughts? Complaints? Suggestions?

Sounds like a plan. I appreciate what you did. It was nice summary of to be honest pretty boring season with NT. Hope to hear more this season, and i think that it might be a good idea to post info about upcoming game 3-4 days before it starts so we can all think about tactic on the forum. it should get crowd more involved. another question. Do you have staff in NT at all? I know there is no coach, but doctor to prevent injuries or PR manager? I cant imagine how it would work with no salary budget, but there is coach in hattrick NT teams

Nope. No staff.

Injuries during NT games don't carry over into the next game (or club play) so doctors don't matter. There's no income from nT games so PR managers would only be useful for their specialty (which would actually be very useful but difficult to incorporate into NT play).

Wow. The first game of the new season was absolutely nuts. Definitely take a look at it if you want to see just how wacky this game can be.

Great win. I just watched the replay and agree it was one of the wilder games you can see in BB.

Nice victory for the good guys!!!!!

Big 106-90 win for Canada tonight over Crna Gora. This makes us perfect so far in competitive play this season *knock on wood*
It was a good game and a positive result.

I wrote a wrap up of it on the off-site forum:

This was a great performance from the team tonight. Issa exploded for an incredible game, and Geoff Abbott was also on fire. I'm sure Poke-star and Rip are going to really enjoy looking at that box score. :)
