OMG yet another example of a completly stupidly good start up team. One 18 year old with reasonable potential and 5K starting salary would be insane, but to then get another one who plays the same position, 5K starting salary and has MVP potential...

This is so unfair on those teams that start with like one 18 year old who has 3K salary and 6th man potential and their best player is a 6K 32 year old.

Ok back on topic, you have two of the best startup players I have ever seen. Buy a level 4 trainer right away, train them single position with 48+ minutes every week and in a couple of seasons you will have two truly amazing players who may make the U21 team and one who could some day make the national team.

The worst is I spent the maximum on scouting last season knowing I would get a low pick. Having a level 6 trainer and already training a U21 SG, I figured I could use the bad result as an opportunity to get the next and improve on the things I learned from training Johnson...

With pick number 6 and max scouting, I got a player that I sold for the cost of 1 week of scouting. There was 2 guards in the draft that have any chance of being anything (picks 1 and 2) and judging by DMI and gameshape, one of them isn't even being trained! When I need a young tall in a season or 2, I will just pay top dollar on the market.

Yeah after 2 bad drafts investing the maximum and not getting a good pick i've lowered my expectations and i'm only doing 10k this season.

Likewise...the draft is so unpredictable.

Just when you think u have decent player based on the balls, you can still be screwed over after discovering his height when you draft him

IMO, when it comes to youth, it doesn't hurt to spend on the market if you are going to train up. Johnson would have sold for around $500k when drafted and I wouldn't put him on the market for less than $4 mill 3 years later. The same season I bought another young SG who was decent value at $70k to train with him. At the start of the next season I sold him for $900k. This year I bought a 19 SF prospect with HOF potential (shame he isn't australian!) who needed some outside training. He cost $300k and his transfer estimate half a season later is $1 050 000 to $ 2 500 000.

I got lucky getting Johnson as pick 12, and I think the main reason was being in div3 with a lot more less actives, but I would much rather not scout and just save the money and pay for a player I know I want. I will be hassling players who draft quality big men in a season or 2 when Johnson is capped so I can train my SF in inside stuff and also pay off a lower ranked team who would most likely just waste a future national team talent. Much cheaper and effective than gambling on the draft.

Yeah i've come to realise the same thing lower ranked teams often end up with good draft prosepcts and are more willing to sell them.

...and that same team also had a 21yo Hall of Famer and a 19 year old Superstar (who was ALSO a PG!). How disgusting is that? I mentored new teams in my old division last season and most had one trainable player at most while this guy gets 4 crazy good ones? Even better in the draft they picked up another insane PG...

Tully Braithwaite (13435335) Point Guard
Owner: Danyle Star
Weekly salary: $ 3 949
DMI: 46400
Age: 18
Height: 6'0" / 183 cm
Potential: MVP
Game Shape: proficient

I admit I have had some massive luck in the draft but this team is just way too lucky. To start with a player you can sell right away for $3,000,000 is just wrong and really can ruin balance in the game.

This is a 1 minute survey of my old leagues bottom 8 teams and the non-drafted 18-19 year olds some of the teams have
jacobsd.league 18 starter $2000 salary and 18 6th man $2000 salary.
The wild bulls 19 6th man 4000 19 role player 3000 and 19 star 4000
Macktown Steamrollers 19 6th man $3000 and 19 MVP $4000 first good not great one
The Bears 18 star $4000 and that is it!
the american heat 18 bench warmer $2000 wow welcome to buzzer beater
Blazing Lamas 18 perennial allstar oh yeah...salary $2651, 18 starter $1656 and finally a bomb - 18 HoF $ 4361.
30 sixers 4 young guns - awesome hey? 18 starter $2000, 18 role player $2000 18 role player $3000 and 19 all star $3000.
RazzleDazzle 18 bench warmer $2000, 19 6th man $2500 and 19 starter $4657.

How is this fair? Teams are not starting from a level playing field. I had a decent start with an 18 all star $4000 worth $100,000 at the time. But what amount of skillful play can make up for starting with a $2000 bench warmer while others start with a $6000 MVP?

I agree it is unfair, but the draft can be unfair too. And both are essentially based on complete randomness and luck. So unless they make it that each team starts with the same players, or no player is above 3k salary or something, it will always be luck that determines how well teams start.

Hey all, doing some early scouting for next season (due to popular demand) so if you have a 20 yo who you think is in with a show for next seasons team, please give a message with his attributes.

Cheers
