After a week off due to a bye Australia was set to face United Arab Emirates. This game was penciled in as a win and every tipster would have picked it. Except for key injuries occurring to major contributors of the team. With Mansfield and bowman out the team was in need of a new guard which so a call up in Vladmir Shisaev who had been impressing NT coach brooksy in his league play for powerhouse club Whitebeard. It was also to be the first game of new SF Wade Drury.
Australia burst out of the blocks in the first quarter with the starting line up proving to be to strong. But it wasn't till first game Shishaev, stepped on the court that Australia broke away he showed no signs of any nerves being a solid player on both the offence and defence end. This dominance would continue throughout the second quarter with Australia heading into the half time break with a 19 point lead.
After half time the UAE came out with a point to prove bringing it to the Aussie team an seeming to be putting in more effort then the Aussies. It was for to long though with the Aussies rallying by the end of the quarter and ended up extending the lead to 20 points.
By the final quarter it seemed that UAE had given up hope and decided to save the energy for there as the score continued to run up for the Australians running out 33 point winners
MVP
In his first game for the team Vladmir Shishaev proved to be the best player scoring at will and also playing good defence he will hopefully give the team more depth when senior players return to the line up. Scoring 24 points and handing out 3 assists to go with 4 boards.
Un memorable night
Would have to go to wade Drury in his first game even in a blow out he only managed two minutes and missed one shot and turned the ball over once.
Coaches award
Goes to Vijaya-Balan Singh who has PF turned into a PG being a facilitator with five assists to go with his 9 boards and 10 points
