This was already explained in the right thread for the new site... They are teams that haven't been eliminated from the tournament (cup).

It is a bug. They never entered Cup .

Yes, this is a small bug, for now. Specifically, the icon appears next to teams that haven't lost a cup game this season. Some teams never play a cup game, so they incorrectly get the icon. Does this explain what you are seeing? We'll fix this issue in the near future.
