Do not under-value your player's defensive skills. The ability to keep your opponent's scorers quiet is so much more useful here than in Hattrick.
Do not neglect your offensive flow rating either. If it is high, then your team will find it easier to score points and avoid turnovers and that can only ever be beneficial.
As for tactics, many players (myself included) have found that tactics with an inside focus are currently very powerful since the number and ability of good inside scorers at the moment, and probably inside your starting squad, is likely better than your outside scorers.
As for Push the Ball, that is a neutral focus higher tempo offence. Balanced inside and outside shooting is beneficial and try to optimise your offensive flow as your players will look to score quickly.
