Transfer Rumour

Hot off the press! A rumour slowly finding it's way around the MBBA circles is that the manager of the Ampang Stuporsonics, is reported having eyes at one of the Teluk Air Tawar Fusion's star point guards. With their impressive performances in the past couple of seasons, it is said that a mega offer is in the offing to convince both them and their franchise to part company. A check on the Stuporsonics financial records indicate that a high-end condo close to KLCC has recently been purchased under the club's name. Could this be a precursor to a transfer market move?

Both Fauzi bin Omar and Kamarulzaman bin Md Noh could not be contacted for details. Unconfirmed reports from several sources have placed them at KLCC after the Raya hollidays, supposedly at a secret meeting with the Stuporsonics backroom staff. Their respective agents however, stated that they were both in KL to iron out some details at the Malaysia BB Main office for some matters pertaining to the national team.

In other news, PR manager Hrant Nashyanan of the Ampang Stuporsonics has vacated his post and has been replaced with Italian Massimo Bausola. Could his resignation be a result of failing to convince Fauzi and Kamarulzaman to trade jerseys?

Reality or Rumour

A high profile meeting took place yesterday at the head office of Bank Pertanian Malaysia,Telok Kemang. A source within the bank informed MBBA News In Brief that the owner of MBBA champions, Stuporsonics, Spaz, was in discussion with the bank for some urgent financing. The source however could not confirm the reason for the financing. However, it was noted that the club has recently signed a housing loan with the same bank for a high end condo in the vicinity of KLCC.

A high profile owner of an MBBA team was recently caught and fined for jay-walking on the deserted streets of KL. As the said owner was not of a legal age, the police did not disclose his identity to the press.

A night to remember

It was the Tie Breaker for the MBBA Finals, Cup Champions Nick Of Time against reigning MBBA champion Ampang Stuporsonics. Team Nick of Time are looking to get their first double while favourite, team Ampang Stuporsonics are looking to maintain their reign in MBBA

It was definitely a night filled with dramas

For the first half, Nick Of Time surprised everyone and were dominating Ampang Stuporsonics.
All thanks to shooting guard, Inocentas Stubrys who in the first quarter alone scored 4 out of 4 attempted 3 pointers and raked up a total of 24 points.

In the second quarter, Inocentas continued to help Nick of Time to maintain the lead and seemed will lead team Nick of Time to a Double for season 10.

2 mins before half time, Inocentas, who had already scored 37 points, was injured by Ampang's Shooting Guard, Mohd Ali bin Wan Hussin. It was a very rough foul and the players of Nick of Time were really mad of the bad play by Mohd Ali. Inocentas had to be taken off with a stretcher and at press time, doctors confirmed that Inocentas will not be able to play for at least the next 2 weeks. At that time Nick of Time was still leading by 12 points
The remaining 2 mins alone, without Inocentas' presence, team Nick fell into disarray and team Ampang capitalised on it. Team Nick of Time didn't make a single basket for the next 2 mins and team Ampang scored 7 points.
At half time, the score was 66 Nick of Time, 61 Ampang Stuporsonics.

In the third quarter, with the absence of of Inocentas, team Nick of Time continued to struggle and lost the lead. The play on the court got very serious and there were a lot of fouls being committed at both ends.
The scored at the end of the third quarter was 90 Nick of Time, 97 Ampang Stuporsonics.

In the fourth quarter, team Nick of Time seemed to be able to regain their composure and came up with very good plays. They managed to reduce the gap to only 2 points.
With 5:28 minutes left for the quarter, Nick of Time point guard Berker Basman was fouled out with 6 fouls.
Though their two starting guards were missing in action in the last 5 minutes, team Nick of Time demonstrated why they were Cup champions and managed to keep the gap at only 2 points for the next 3 minutes.
The last 2 minutes, Ampang Stuporsonics edged away from team Nick of Time as the team started showing the effects of missing 2 of their key players.
Final score was 115 Nick of Time, 128 Ampang Stuporsonics.

Point to note: Inocentas scored the most basket (37 points) that night even though he got injured at half time.

Fans of Nick of Time all walked away from Stupendous Showhouse with a tear in their eye as not only did they lose out on their first double but to see their team fight on so valiantly even after so many setbacks was definitely heart breaking.

It was rumored that all the players of Ampang Stuporsonics were planning to go straight to visit Inocentas at the hospital instead of going for a victory party.

Ah Moi, it was a very valiant fight and your boys definitely did not disappoint.
The injury and foul was heart wrenching even for me. I cannot imagine how bad you felt to have gone through that last 1 hour watching the game.

ps. Spaz sorry if my writeup seemed to cover on team Nick of Time more, but they are the underdogs. And underdogs sell more to the public. :p

Good write-up there, Kwaiwah. Yeah, I was really disappointed with Inocentas's setback at the 2nd Quarter, because he was firing on all cylinders at that point. But I guess, it wasn't his day. My players got really pissed off after that, and often find themselves in trouble, until Basman's dismissal at the fourth. By then, it was no way back for NOT.

Well, a defeat is a defeat. No excuses. It was a good game and congrats to Spaz for retaining the title.

I will try again next season.

Inocentas was insane tonight, just look at his stats. 7 out of 9 threes? 4 steals and 37 points in under 2 quarters? That's season MVP kinda stats. It really looked done and dusted after the first quarter, Mohd Ali was really struggling to contain his counterpart SG from having a free scoring party at the 3 point line. Going into the 3rd quarter, I thought we still might have a shot in it with NoT's best player out and fortunately for me, it turned out to be.

Mohd Ali wishes a speedy recovery to Inocentas, he explains that the unfortunate incident was nothing more than a 50-50 ball situation involving 2 very committed players during a high stakes MBBA final. The Stuporsonics will be dropping by his hospital bed first thing leaving the arena.

But for now, after a most memorable final full of exciting incidents and seeing NoT almost taking the MBBA title and Ginakia strengthening their squad, we will celebrate this title as if it will be our last in a long time.

Congrats to both NOT and Ampang for making it another memorable MBBA finals! Gut wrenching stuff indeed for NOT...but fret not...next season beckons!

On a side note, Arowana Kings is throwing a party to celebrate it's team mass circumcision ceremony this coming Friday night. All teams are invited to attend.
